He is definitely going to be frustrating at times as he seems like a lumbering stiff out there. We'll see if the parts around him are good enough that he can just do what he is great at and not have to do things outside of his abilities.

You'll have KJ, McCullar and Dajuan doing the heavy lifting defensively.
Dickinson will be a threat all over the court offensively.

Hopefully he can move all over the court offensively at the speed that Self's offense requires to run at it's maximum capability. I have a not insignificant amount of concern about that part of his game. We'll see, I trust Self to adjust to his great players better than any coach in the sport.

Somewhat agree. But Dedrick was the leading scorer on a undefeated team ranked #1 in the country, before dok got hurt

Hunter seems to be surrounded by the right pieces for this team to excel in a similar way

DMac wasn't particularly quick ( long strides but still, pretty slow ) and Dickinson has an arsenal of skills that DMac didn't. And we had success with DMac.

We have the most reliable guy for a back to basket post up since senior Udoka.
He can also shoot the 3 so I could see him lumbering up the court on a fast break to get a trailing pass for that.

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Yes. And I think people are underestimating just how good kj is going to be. Him being forced to play center last season will be a blessing now and hunter might be the perfect compliment to him at the 5

Kj is going to take over games with his defensive versatility

The inevitable double teaming of Hunter will help everyone, especially KJ.

Obviously talented.
Was the MVP of the game no doubt.
Just know I’d hate him if he was on another team. Shoots a three, still down seven, celebrates as if it’s a game winner.

Yea.
Similar to having Tyreek Hill on your team.

I still find him annoying but it seems like he's totally bought in to the Kansas basketball culture. His stat line last night was insane.

Our team has done a fantastic job telling him what to say after games in order to counter the things he says previous. He's a game changer. And he wasn't all that bad on defense last night ( held his ground on anyone who challenged him - he's not so great on help defense though, or of course closing out perimeter players on screens ).

He's gonna hump the air and fist bump and make 'too small' hand signals all season long.
It's gonna be tiresome.
But he's gonna be 1st team AA too so there's that.

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-baske ... e-kentucky

"CHICAGO -- For 40 minutes, Hunter Dickinson did what he always does.

He pumped his fist after he made clutch shots, he chirped at the crowd and talked trash to his opponents during No. 1 Kansas' thrilling 89-84 comeback victory over No. 17 Kentucky on Tuesday in the Champions Classic at the United Center."

Yay.
