BIG DICK NICK FTW

But I get it, but the 4 best teams are in prime spots to be in the conference championship games. I get NO has to go on the road to GB if they win, but think they're better than Green Bay.

I’d either of our teams survive this weekend, I don’t like chances against SF or BAL
Vikes match up better with SF than NO. But, nothing but road games: fractional percentage of success. I think only the Giants have done it.

If I were a Chiefs fan, I certainly would not be concerned about a home playoff game.

I can hear the sarcasm there. And again, I get it. But I think things are different with Mahomes and Reid. Reid is 4-1 in the playoffs after a bye. The 1 loss was to Pittsburgh in 2016 when they didn't allow a TD and still lost. Mostly because Alex Smith could never figure out that defense, the next time the Chiefs played that defense, Mahomes went 23-28 for 6 TDs and 320 yards.

The Chiefs beat the Colts last year, and Indy was the hottest team in the league entering the playoffs (something like 8-1 before playoffs), they then dominated Houston on the road and were confident coming to KC. Then Mahomes and Reid just destroyed them.

KC was honestly, 6 inches away from a Super Bowl berth. The hex was about lifted off in Reid and Mahomes first year. This Chiefs team is a better, more complete team, but may have a tougher road to get there.

Thornhill indeed popped his ACL. The good news, I suppose, is that the path from here to a Super Bowl really only has two passing offenses that are worrisome - Houston and New Orleans.

My outside view is that Chiefs were better last year just because it was an A++ offense and they haven't gotten to that point this year. Defense is obviously better this year, so a more rounded team, but what Mahomes does the next month will prove if a better all around team or not.

I don't believe in silly notions like curses or hexes, but certainly Mahomes is likely to add to the hardware case.

I think last year's ceiling was a bit higher, but the floor was much lower.

And to put this just a bit differently - last year, the offense failing to play at an A-level (even for a half) spelled disaster.

Agreed. One thing that has been beneficial for KC. Offense is bad, defense is outstanding. Defense bad to start the year, offense amazing.

The team still really hasn't clicked on all 3 phases yet. Oakland was probably the closest game for that in that regard.

And the offense really sung for only a quarter.

I know the stats didn't show it, but I thought the Bears game was the closest we've seen. Pat was really himself, and the game was controlled start to finish.

Thornhill out for the season with an ACL. I loved the pick and he proved to be a solid choice. His absence will hurt and we gotta hope he can come back for some of next season.

He allowed Badger to play in the box more. He'll have to likely play back a bit more, but they have some good help in Watts and Fuller.

I just glanced at the scores of KC’s games, and I am curious if the D is really a lot better?

I know they are better than the dumpster fire they were, but what exactly are they doing better against quality opponents?

I know the only game they gave up big points second half of season was to Tennessee, but weren’t half the points there essentially Titans luck as opposed to bad defense?

NewtonHawk11 wrote: Mon Dec 30, 2019 10:37 am Bills at Texans Saturday 3:30 CT. Texans a 3 point favorite. JJ Watt likely back for Texans after torn pec. Texans will have a rested Watson, Hopkins and possibly Fuller back as well. Bills have a good defense but offense is too up and down and hasn't shown much consistency. Texans are a better team and rested after a somewhat bye for them as they rested their top guys against Titans on Sunday.

Texans win 24-16.

Titans at Pats Saturday 7:15CT. Pats a 5 1/2 point favorite. Titans have won 7 of last 10. And been competitive in losses as well. Henry has been on a tear for them. Tannehill has been outstanding in a Titans uniform. Pats struggling on offense. Defense is still top notch. Gilmore got exposed Sunday though. Expect low scoring affair. Titans can win this game, just think that the Pats will have one play that makes the difference.

Pats win 20-17.

Vikings at Saints. 12:05 CT. Saints a 7 1/2 point favorite. Vikings kind of ended the season on a whimper. Really struggling. Cook should be back and that's a difference maker. Hope the Vikings do well for CnB's sake, but the Saints are really freaking good and the Vikings are really not.

Saints win 35-20.

Seahawks at Eagles. 3:40 CT. Seahawks a 1 point favorite. Repeat of same matchup and same location from a month or so ago. Seahawks won 17-9. Eagles banged up but fighting like hell. Seahawks were really bad in the last first half last night. But nice comeback to make it a game (Should have won)

Seahawks win 27-23.

Some good games shape up for Divisional Round
Texans at Ravens.
Pats at Chiefs.
Saints at Packers.
Seahawks at 49ers.
Bills over Texans (least confident)
Pats over Titans
Saints over Vikings
Seahawks over Eagles

Ravens over Bills
Chiefs over Pats
Packers over Saints
49ers over Seahawks

Chiefs over Ravens
Packers over 49ers

Chiefs over Packers

I'M CALLING BOTH GAMES!

As of a year ago, he was still living there, so I'm sure he's still there.

The KC native came out in him a bit when he was doing both of those games. A bit homer there, and I loved it.

He’s great. After college worked landscaping for a bit, he was one of our clients. Had bad ice storm, trees all over the place. Doing removal, he and his wife came out and made sure we were doing well, offered us to come in and get warm if needed, brought cocoa out.

No one else that week did any one of those things.

Yeah. Every game from here on should be difficult. We will need our best to have a chance.
This is just not true. We beat New England on the road, with something far less than "our best". Beating New England or any non-Baltimore opponent will likely require at least a B- game. Beating the Ravens (in Baltimore) will require at least an A- game.
Alright, have it your way. Splitting hairs here. :D
