Just an opinion. I thought thats what we were doing here. Posting peoples opinions and pretending that means something.
Of course that's what we are doing here. But if your opinion is that republican senators aren't intimidated, "scared" of Trump, that's definitely a reason for anyone paying attention to roll their eyes*.
*imo
Its the easy excuse. Its the easy excuse for democrats in particular. It gives a reason and explains away why someone might disagree with them. "No one would ever think (insert thought or stance here), see, even these Republicans agree with me their just scared and cant say it".

Its a chickenshit excuse and noone in American politics is scared of another politician. Fear is never a reason to do something you disagree with, its an excuse and a goddamn bad one.
All politicians fear not being elected again.

The Republicans were shivering like scared dogs, fearing Donald Trump, as much unlike the Founders as can be imagined.

The real profile in courage in this impeachment was Doug Jones, who followed the example of the Founders when he faced down his fear of losing the next election.

I don't know why you think that hurts my feelings. I was raised a Jayhawk by a Jayhawk. With multiple other Jayhawks in my immediate family. No degree needed. I chose not to attend KU for a few reasons. They weren't great reasons but when you're 17 you make the best decisions you can and roll with them. No regrets here. I've attended 100s of KU basketball games. I feel solid in my Fandom of KU. I don't ever claim to be a former student, or know the student experience. I do know that 99% of Jayhawks are not bothered that I'm a fan of the school because my Dad is a KU graduate (so is my aunt and so is my uncle). When you're raised a Jayhawk by a Jayhawk the love for the school transcends a diploma. Heck, even my 2 kids are Jayhawk fans already. So, we're over happy, enjoying life, and cheering on our Jayhawks. Ain't nobody over here worried about your lonely old angry at the world ass. Get a hobby. Go meet a friend. Anything but being cooped up in that empty house talking to your 14 cats all day.

My 1st KU game we sat near the student section. Met 2 very nice students, a BF and GF.....they kept in touch over the next few years sending pics and letters to me (I was not very old). 1 of then knew Adonis Jordan and he signed a team photo and wrote a little note to me. Those are the kind of Jayhawks I think of and associate with the school. True Jayhawks.

Doug Jones was a profile in courage, standing up for his principles against a president whom he disagreed with. I spoke to that. As usual, you disdained anyone that cares about politics or the nation's future.

Charles Robinson, a founder of the University of Kansas and who left the land that the main campus was founded on, was a politician who opposed the slavery loving politicians of the era. He and wife Sarah, survived arrest, imprisonment, being burned out for standing on their principles.

I'm a Jay, Jay, Jay, Jay Jayhawk who celebrates that proud history and believes that those of us who are serious about politics are following a proud tradition, just as Doug Jones was.

Snap those dentures in and get out of the house. All I can picture is you sitting around in your flannel nighty parked in front of your Dell Desktop chatting on a message board where many people think you're a looney.

I'm in work clothes driving in my car. No Dell desktop for me.

And why do you think I'm unaware of how people feel about me around here? I reference my awareness about it all the time. Very aware you and most others don't like me. By now you should be aware that I don't care.

My responses have been about politics and the traditions of my alma mater. From that you've launched a series of escalating insults at me as a woman--and ugly insinuations about my personal life.

You're certainly no Doug Jones.

Oh come on....having a Dell Desktop isn't that embarrassing.

But LOL @ you making it about your gender. As always. Your victimized woman card is played out. Expired from overuse.

You've accused the guys on this forum of sitting around in flannel nighties?

Well, no wonder they don't like you.

I'll take the time to actually see what else was in the bills and/or why the Republicans voted against it. Since I'm sure fox and friends didn't go over it for you.....because I think we all can assume that there's more to the story than just that tweet.....but like twocoach pointed out, that tweet is all a lot of people see for "news".

But....WOW at the comments under that tweet...some are downright scary.

Alright then, find out one GOOD reason why Republicans would vote against each of these three bills ("it costs money" is not a good reason - if that's the reason roll back the f##$ing tax cuts and pay for this).

Until I hear otherwise we'll know that the reason the Republicans blocked these three bills is because they have sworn fealty to Russian assets who may also be money-launderers. #MoscowMitch #SidekickSue

I find it hard to believe the totality of the 3 bills can be summed up in 1 sentence each on 1 single tweet...but that's the "news" consumed. Nobody cares about the details or takes the time. The tweeter knows their audience.
