The resulting fraction (quotient) is multiplied by 100 to obtain the IQ score.[3] For modern IQ tests, the median raw score of the norming sample is defined as IQ 100 and scores each standard deviation (SD) up or down are defined as 15 IQ points greater or less.[4] By this definition, approximately two-thirds of the population scores are between IQ 85 and IQ 115. About 2.5 percent of the population scores above 130, and 2.5 percent below 70.[5][6]

It wouldve been a lot easier to say "no i dont have a source"

Just the first part alone is going to kill many people.
Please elaborate.

The drug has received an emergency use order. We know it's safe for human consumption (obviously).

How is it going to kill "many people?"

I get that it's stupid for the President to be giving medical advice -- especially THIS president. But I fail to see how it will get people killed.
I'm not a doctor but I play one on a message board.

How do you know what other drugs people are taking and how hydroxychloroquine interacts with them?
Grapefruit is "safe for human consumption". Right? It's harmless and actually good for you.
I take a blood pressure med. I eat grapefruit while on it, it's not "safe". It's NOT good for me.
In fact, while it's unlikely and would obviously be an extreme result, it could kill me.
And it is your responsibility to communicate with your prescribing physician about those matters, not the POTUS.

You and I understand responsibility in terms of communicating with our doctors and not the POTUS.
I don't believe the same could be said for ALL other Americans.
That's one of the main reasons why I feel the POTUS shouldn't ask "What do you have to lose" while suggesting people take a drug that he has no idea how it may interact with other medications that they are taking.
Look - you, I, DC, everyone else, we can all debate how people may interpret and react to what Trump has said. Obviously we are not going to be agreement in terms of our feelings and to what degree his carelessness may affect people. So be it - and I'm going to leave it at that.

OK. Just so I understand: the President needs to be more careful about what he says because people who will acquire drugs illegally but who are taking other drugs -- legally, presumably? -- might need to be concerned about drug interactions that they would be unaware of, since they obtained the drug illegally and not from a doctor or a pharmacist. And if they do have interactions and die, that's on POTUS.

Gutter's already made it clear that POTUS is going to kill people without prescriptions who are buying it from Nathan Barksdale.

Trump has also been talking a lot about ventilators to treat covid. Shouldn't we also be worried about healthy individuals pre-emptively hooking themselves to ventilators as a preventative? That would also be bad.

Today we’re all ventilators.

Hard for me to give you a response because I admit I am confused as to what you are saying.
If I am understanding you correctly, when someone chooses to take a drug that they have not been forced to take and they have a bad interaction - then I think you and I are in agreement. That's on them.
I'm not blaming the President for anything other than his negligence - in telling people in a time of crisis ("war") who may be desperate, naive, scared, etc., that there is a drug that might protect them and if they take it and "what do you have to lose"?
I'm sorry DC, I feel that's foolish and ignorant. Does it mean I feel it's 100% his fault if someone is dumb? Of course not but I do think he MAY play a role when people who look up to him, trust him, look to him for answers. listen to him for advice, do as he suggests.

There you go again. What difference, at this point, does it make? You didn’t build that. I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Ms. Lewinsky. In Tennessse, and in Texas, too, they have an old saying: Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice . . . And you probably won’t fool me again.

The problem with trumps statements are that, because India, the major producer of hydroxychloroquine, stopped exporting the drug, there could be a shortage for people who NEED it, like people with lupus.

Also, the preliminary data suggest marginal to no benefit. So I do think he's overselling the efficacy.

The FDA did approve it for emergency use to treat covid-19. So, if someone is dying if covid, I don't see the harm in a doctor trying it as a treatment. It's a prescription drug, so there really shouldn't be healthy people taking it on their own.

My bad. I thought we were just randomly quoting people who have lived in the White House.

I read several articles today citing the efficacy of combining it with azithromycin for younger patients and doxycycline for older ones that had good outcomes. I understand the criticism that these are not randomized, controlled trials, but trying something that helps some people is still more viable than just saying “Sit at home and let the country burn to the ground. We’ll check back with you in 18 months if you haven’t gone stark raving mad or starved to death.” I applaud DJT for pushing the narrative back in the direction of practicality.

I commend Joel for actually giving a damn and educating himself instead of just cutting a check (as a tax write off) and wanting to look like a hero for doing it.
