Trump is 78, not 81.

So, your opinion is that if Biden dropped, so would Trump?

Truthfully, I would rather have Ramaswamy than Trump. Sadly though, the country is not ready yet for this. Trump is much preferrable to Biden, but not a great choice regardless. The sad thing is, the media doesn't yet realize that all the attempts of trying prevent Trump are just increasing his chances. It's amusing and sad at the same time.

It's a unique skill to be this far from correct. If anything, the media's failure to break out of horserace politics is the ONLY thing propping Trump up.

January 16, 2024-Trump's big win is Iowa was entirely expected. The media did a disservice by focusing on the imaginary competitive primary rather than more substantive issues and a more thorough exploration of the threat to democracy presented by Trump.

The media thinks somehow cheer leading is a safe out. Trump and loyalty are a one-way street. They would fill the first camps.

The funny secret is that the media loves Trump because he gets clicks and eyeballs. CNN revenue tanked when they did not talk about Trump. The media may pretend to hate him, but he makes them a ton of money.

Yeah, nope, not at all.

I’ve been thinking ahead some.

I think what the various Never Trump groups (Lincoln Project; The Bulwark; etc.) should do is come together for a new initiative, call it Day Two or something. New Day Coalition, if you’re picking up what I’m laying down. The idea being to kick off the “Constitutional Conservative in 2028” campaign as soon as Biden is sworn in.

What I’m thinking is that this would galvanize Never Trump support (to keep him from getting elected), while ALSO lowering the price of admission for those who do not want Trump but also do not want to change teams. By making Never Trump a temporary thing that will fall away, maybe you make the movement even stronger and more attractive (and thus more effective).

The point is, the media doesn't understand that giving him all this attention is just increasing his chances of winning. The best thing they should do is ignore him, but they can't because no one would click on their articles.

that’s a rather simple-minded take

such an environment would only serve to normalize the behavior, when in fact trump’s behavior is anything but

ignoring him won’t make him miraculously disappear

This was true in 2016. It is no longer true. The media's present failure is not in giving him attention, it is in giving him attention that treats his bullshit (the benign AND the malignant) as the other side of a coin.
