sigh.
let's try to keep the hoops discussion about hoops.
if anyone really wants to debate - or rather, continue to debate - my view as a fan that I tend to think KU is capable of beating anyone, feel free.

there's so much soft pansy posting, and yet also so much antagonistic contrarianism
I dunno whether this is supposed to register on the roiboi meter or the illy meter!
or do we need a roiboilly meter?

I mean, that IS one of the parameters of the illy meter.
Childish, too!
You can't make this stuff up. Those were less than 30min ago, in this very thread.

...instead of my fanboy mindset every other year like, I don't care who's in our backet, bring it on you fuckin loosers we're fuckin KU and we'll beat any one any time any place you fuckin loosers.
There are maybe 5 years in my entire life where I felt like we were absolutely going to win the national title in the way that post reads.
I'm not going to look up the years (so i may be off a year), but the teams are:
96/97 Jacque Pierce Raef team that lost to Zona.
01/02 Gooden Collison Hinrich team that lost to Maryland
07/08 we won. Maybe winning has made me feel like I remember feeling more confident going in than I really did. Because there were 4 REALLY good teams that season. Unc Memphis and UCLA were as good or better on paper than us in a lot of people's eyes.
09/10 sherron X. Northern Iowa
10/11 sherron twins. VCU
And then 19/20 covid.
As a KU fan I expect us to compete for national titles every single year. I am not so unrealistic to think we should be the heavy favorite every single year. We get more 1 seeds than anyone lately.

Absolutely.
When looking around the country though, there are only a few teams I feel confident in their ability to make a final four or win it all:
Duke. Kenpom 3 (6 off, 3 def). We beat them.
Houston. Kenpom 1 (8 off, 1 def). We should have beaten them.
Iowa State. Kenpom 5 (13 off, 6 def). Beat us easily.
And then Auburn, Florida.
It feels like we're a long way off because we're comparing this team (intentional or not) to KU teams of the past, in addition to teams around the country this season, when determining our comfortability with them.
It's a wide open year in my eyes. All of the teams are showing serious vulnerabilities weekly.

I'm excited for our rematches with ISU and Houston.
How our guys respond to those games could influence my perception of our ability to make a tourney run.

03 once we got there and were against Cuse. I thought we'd win for sure.
But, we had 8 losses that year.

10 felt pretty good. 11 felt even better, especially by the time we made the Elite 8 against a double-digit mid major....ugh
12 was within a couple plays at the very end.
13, 16, 17, 18 all felt good.
14, 15, 19 all did but for injury and the NCAA (F them)
20 felt great.
21 felt like anything could happen with the wackiness of Covid.
22 felt okay...was worried about the fact Kentucky curb stomped us at home earlier that season, tho that was after Remy lost his starting spot in the thick of the injury and/or doghouse fiasco. In fact, it was after the UK game on 1/29 that he sat out until Scott Drew Sucks on 2/26.
But yea, once Remy started cooking and our bracket opened up, it just felt better and better.

You thought we were "fuck all you losers" favorites all of those seasons?
That's some serious optimism and/or completely ignoring the strength and abilities of the dominant teams in many of those years.

At least you admit that the attitude is for how you are scored as a poster and fan and not due to actual basketball.
