The shooter was killed by an armed civilian, who thankfully was not mistaken by the police and killed as well. Luckier than the good Samaritan in Arvada, CO last year.

The armed civilian is a hero.

Not sure why the need to bring up something old and unrelated to this incident in an effort to bash police. Gotta keep pushing that narrative.

Not every hero civilian who stops a bad guy accidentally gets shot by police because he's mistaken as a bad guy with a gun.

So what was the point of his comment?

That good guys with guns shouldn't stop bad guys with guns because incompetent police might shoot them?

You find discussion about the risk that the civilian faces when pulling out a weapon to be unrelated?!? Eh, OK.

Like I said, I am glad that it ended well for him.

The point is that when additional people choose to pull out weapons and shoot at others, it immediately makes the situation more confusing for both witnesses and police. That this ended well is largely a matter of timing. If police or another armed civilian had been approaching the scene just as that civilian was shooting then it might not have ended the same way.

I am not saying anyone should do anything different other than to understand the situation they are creating as well as the risk they are choosing to take.

Shocker. The kid showed what can be considered as warning signs.
Can't wait for the far right assholes to blame "mental illness" while 100% ignoring the fact that if he didn't have a gun he wouldn't have shot anyone.

Don't know why the reason(s) for people shooting (mental issues or gun possession) has to be all just one thing or the other. Like abortion, for or against, there's no winning the argument.
Doesn't and shouldn't.
My frustration is that so many people blame this and that without mentioning/considering the obvious - if the people who have used guns to kill others didn't have a gun, they wouldn't be able to shoot someone.

You have people such as this complete asshole who have no idea how fucking stupid they are.

Agreed. And I am glad that heroism did not cost him his life. That person's life would never have been put at risk had the shooter not been able to attain the weapons that they used to kill three innocent victims.

But the idiotic state of guns in our nation now requires everyone to have to worry about being shot at the mall, grocery store, etc... not only by an evil person intent on doing harm but also by armed citizens attempting to be Good Samaritans as well as police. The addition of more guns to our society doesn't make me feel safer. It makes me feel the opposite.

If you walked into the grocery store this Saturday morning and every single person had some sort of open carry (either a long gun slung over their shoulder or a pistol in a visible holster) how many people here would say "ah, now I finally feel safe" and how many people would say "what the fuck? I am out of here, this is insane"?

We learned today that Robb Elementary school room 111 was where the shooter spent the fourth grade being bullied. Also, the day of the shooting was probably the first time he had ever shot a gun. And a shit-ton of blame to go around.
And there are people in this country that want unwanted children to be born to people unprepared to be parents. There really needs to be a Manhatten Project type effort to find you a simple, reversible, painless, perfect, cheap sterilization method since you can't live without the pro-creating kind of sex.

More people, showing up with more guns, will invariably lead to more people being murdered

seems logical, and unavoidable
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
