Having the announcers be blatant Yankee fans is getting old.

Costas is awesome.

Judge didn’t go around on that pitch.

Fuck the Yankees!

There was only one guy swinging the bat for the Yankees and Q let him beat us. Stanton fixed his swing and I told my wife his at bat in the 7th would be the key one in the game. Bubic should not have been out there because Stanton is the high leverage RH you have to worry about. Leave Singer in. Bubic is tired. But no, another breaking ball torched. Must have seen 100 homeruns on off speed stuff this year. If Salvy asked for that, damn. But you have to score runs. Need a faster lineup. Q is just too stubborn. Backs against the wall.

It’s tough when one team can spend 2.5 times more than another.

The Royals would be really good if they got to pick the best players from the Brewers and the Tampa Bay Rays and add them to their team.

The Royals' payroll is a choice.

Anyhow, I'm probably a 90th percentile Singer fan, and so I was hoping Q would leave him in. But Bubic has reverse splits in his (brief) stint as a reliever, so I get it.

That said, the 1-2 deficit is entirely on the offense. Holding the Yankees to 6, 4 and 3 runs is about all you can ask of the staff. It is apparent that the Yankees aren't honoring Pasquantino's power in the way the Orioles did - and that weird, knuckly flare job in the 8th shows why. Thumb and wrist injuries sap power until fully healed, and there just hasn't been time.

I was thinking Singer might be left in simply for the fact that we play again tonight.

That said, I was fully prepared for Singer to give up a HR in the 8th.

Saying the payroll is a choice is such a conveniently simple way of arguing in a sport that has unequivocally made the way it looks at data anything but simple.

No dude, it's not that simple, we've had this convo.
And given your history with everything ( money to players won't ruin college sports + Dodgers fan ) I get why you love the MLB payroll system.

We disagree, but whatever, not the point of the thread.

The best use for Singer in the postseason would actually be to open for Ragans, to force a no-win lineup decision on the other side. Same concept would also have worked nicely for Bubic/Lynch and Lugo/Wacha. But even for a now-forward-thinking organization, that’s a bit much.

So now it's our biggest offseason acquisition vs their highest paid pitcher.
Wacha v Cole.

The Yankees have not played that well and probably should have been swept. But a team stacked with low power slow right handed batters is only going to go so far. The Royals did not need senior players for the playoff run. They needed to develop their own. The senior guys almost wrecked the season and are wearing on Witt's at bats. Who cares if you walk him to face the speedsters Salvy Yuli and Renfroe? The lack of meaningful batting depth is an own goal. Cannot continue to be a recycler team

KC was down 2 games to 1 vs. the Astros in the 2015 ALDS, too. They aren't done yet. One guy got 3 of their 4 hits last night and killed them. KC just needs to figure out how to swing at less bad pitches and to not walk so damn many people. They are close.

Cole wasn't elite vs the Royals in NY.
Just hope for that version of Cole tonight and for Wacha to be locked in.
I think we'll need to hold the Yankees to 3 runs or less to win.
