Calipari has 4 Final Fours and a National Title since going to Kentucky.

There are several methods that work.

In ‘16 Cheick’s stat line was very similar to Jamari’s, but in about half as many minutes.

Basketball is about more than individual stats. It is a team sport.

Nobody, not even Self, would say Jamari is better at 1 on 1 than Diallo.

I had to edit it was HALF as many minutes.

And I dunno what TEAM sportsman would prefer to play with a less talented teammate.

Where in the box score do they keep track of # of possessions being lost, missing an assignment, or not playing to the scouting report?

Undeveloped talent. Hypothetical talent. Unknown if its even there talent.

In hindsight, Cheick woulda been awful nice to have up to speed against Nova.
I'm not sure Cheick is still up to speed.

Diallo’s currently averaging 13 and 8 in the G league.

He’s at 5 points and 4 boreds in 12 mpg in his nba career average. Currently trying to wrap my mind around how a guy can average more career minutes in the NBA than he did in college.

By only staying in school for 1 year. That's how.

And the games are 8min longer in the NBA.

I can't think of a player who seemed more lost than Diallo. I also can't think of one who seemed further away from his HS ranking than he did. He was sped up in a way that makes McCormack seem calm.

Rules.
He was eligible to return for his sophomore year at KU, right? Cliff not so much.

Oh ya, that was the 6th grade report card witch-hunt.

Perhaps missing the first few games doomed Diallo’s chances from the get-go

Didn't help.

And, I think he, like Selby, was also not allowed to practice for a month or so.

NCAA has already taken enough from us for rules that are no longer in effect.

And in the NBA you also might sometimes occasionally have to beat out other NBA players for minutes, rather than have to beat out guys like Perry and Jamari

Diallo taking minutes from Perry is an all time dumb hot take. Perry was a fucking AA that year.

That one was wild.

There was just this “eligibility pending” narrative, we knew the ncaa was waiting to sign off but not sure why, until they come up with some bullshit about waiting to hear back from like a grade school in Mali.

Then Self calls them out in the media, and next thing you know he’s eligible!

I think after the Cliff fallout, the ncaa just assumed every big man recruit we’ve had since was ineligible by default.

That is, until they started signing off on guys as Certified Amateurs, even though they weren’t - just like every other recruit at every other school, if they put them under a microscope like they did to us, after we self-reported in good faith!

Goddamn it.

F them.
