Same luxuries (in fact Genesis has more), way different price tag, and maintenance on German is so high--previously had a VW that routinely gave me problems. And, I think a lot of American drivers are moving that direction.

oh yeah, his Kia has more bells and whistles than my Audi, albeit my Audi is a 2015, but I'm sure the maintenance is much cheaper. I'll keep my Audi for a while since it's paid off and only has 38k miles, but if shit starts to break left and right, I'll get rid of it and probably get a Kia. I like the AWD, one of the main reasons I've bought Audis.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 1:14 pmOur other car is a Sonata Hybrid, which is same car as K5, and the infotainment stuff is noticeably better than the Mercedes. Never thought I would like Corvettes until I drove my father-in-laws Corvette from Asheville, NC back to Omaha after his big stroke. Taking that thing through the hills of Carolina and Tennessee was incredible. I am a fan and I love the new body styles with the midengines.

What year and stuff?
I grew up around corvettes and muscle cars, as my dad and uncles are all gear heads from Detroit.
My dad still has a 68 vette that he bought in 1969. I learned to drive stick in it at age 12. Apparently it was some ousdahl family right of passage.
He maintains, with a serious face and not even the suggestion he’s just joking, that he loves that car more than his kids. He intends to be buried in it. Not that I have a totally fucked up relationship with my dad or anything.
But yeah, there’s just some visceral rush that comes with a big motor in a small car.

Wife and I looked into a Telluride for her. She had an RDX and with the kiddo wanted something bigger. Ultimately she wanted to stay in the Acura family so went with the newly re-designed MDX. Really great car and have liked having an Acura.
Now if it was up to me I would have went Genesis GV80. Those things are beautiful but once you start adding on they can get pricey. Now compared to who they are putting themselves up against - Mercedes, Lexus and BMW they are a steal.

I like the new Corvette styling, but the interior is atrocious. I can't stand the weird, skinny control button thing in the middle.

Nice. If I do a gasoline car next, whenever that may be, it will be G70 or G80.holidaysmore wrote: ↑Fri Oct 29, 2021 11:03 amNow if it was up to me I would have went Genesis GV80. Re: Automobiles
And for context - corvette did away with manual transmissions, more than anything cuz so few vette buyers wanted them.
Contrast that with Porsche, who tried doing away with it, and all the “driving experience” Porsche fanboys raised a fuss to bring the option back.

Re: Automobiles
I have no idea what year that one was. It was his "driving around" Corvette that he took on trips with his Corvette Club. It was on his Corvette Club trip to celebrate his retirement from work that he had his massive stroke. His boss flew me out to NC on their corporate jet to pick him up and bring him back to Omaha. I went along to bring his car back. If it wasn't for such a crappy reason, that would have been a really fun trip.ousdahl wrote: ↑Fri Oct 29, 2021 10:59 amRight on!twocoach wrote: ↑Fri Oct 29, 2021 10:49 am

His "investment" Corvette was a 1957 that he used only to drive my kids around in little parades and to drive to local car shows. He finally sold it for a stupid amount of money a few years before he passed.
