Sure you can, you can pull the shirt when someone goes down.
Which is a shitty situation for all parties.

You would have to lose 2 bigs to need to pull the redshirt. DMac finished strong.
Not ideally. Expectations are sky high.

If they are thinking about redshirting Lightfoot, then they shouldn't take that lightly. Commit to saving him for 20-21 or dont bother.

Especially with also having a incredibly deep stock of guards. If a big goes down, you can still keep the RS and go 4-1 offense. Only really need 2 bigs for that type of offense.

What’s the payoff of limiting this depth we’re infatuated with right now?

Why let Mitch sit on the bench when he could be used and would be used with a udoka injury?

if we're playing two bigs, the majority of the time, and it sounds like we will, then we're going to need 4 bigs. There's really no reason to RS Mitch.

It really looks like the plan for 20-21 is to go with Big Mac and then Enaruna/Wilson at the 4...unless SDS comes back for a senior year.

Well, I think we can sit Mitch and still really not limit our depth.

Silvio’s due for big minutes. Dok and Mac too. Add in the potential for multiple small ball options at the 4, and that’s not many minutes left for Mitch either way.

Add in the fact Mitch is sort of a low-ceiling known commodity who isn’t likely to break out and beat one of those other dudes for minutes, and it might be worth stashing him for the unknown of next year. Shrug.

What if we get top 10 recruit Greg Brown out of Texas?

This says to me that Jalen is our backup 4.

Just read some Bill quotes from this time last year about Grimes. Should take care of your problem.

soooo redshirt Mitch?

Cuz by the end of the year we hopefully won’t even need him (but can always pull the shirt if we do), and at the beginning of the year I’d rather see guys like Jalen get reps instead.

They won't redshirt Mitch...two years with a Senior Day? Can't happen!

And that Lightfoot is now 5th in the big man rotation.

Any word on Dok’s medical redshirt?
