Unfortunately this didn't happen to me just once but it's happened to me once in the past 40 years.
This morning at about 3:00am I think I broke two toes.
Stepped on a box I left on the floor in my living room with my right foot. Lost my balance. Stepped down awkwardly with the left foot. Toe next to my big toe and the middle toe. Middle toe a little more painful. Toe next to my big toe, I don't think I am imagining that I can feel the bone chip.
Difficult to walk. I'm thinking all but impossible to wear a shoe. Which I am going to need to do if I go to work today. While wearing a fucking mask on my face (out of consideration to my fellow employees - due to my getting over whatever "virus" I may or may not have had). Not a funny joke and sorry if I offend anyone by saying this but it's another example of a reason why it's probably a good thing I don't own a gun.

Perspective..... There are worse things.
I could probably work from home but I am going to tough it out. Instead of walking to work, I'll take an Uber. Once I get in the office, there are just and handful of people who will be there. I'll sit at my desk, take off my left shoe, do some work, have lunch delivered, and manage to get through the day.
Yes, it's somewhat painful but it's manageable pain.

Human head found in freezer of home in western Colorado

Deputies in western Colorado responded to a report of a suspicious situation late last week and wound up finding a human head in a freezer. It happened on Friday at a home on the 2900 block of Pinyon Avenue in Grand Junction.

The property had been sold recently and some people who were cleaning the home were the ones who contacted authorities, according to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office. They said that they thought they might have discovered human remains there.

KREX-TV reports that the freezer was in the front yard of the property and that it was a chest freezer or deep freezer. The Western Slope television station also reported that the people who were cleaning were the new homeowners. They called police after finding a bag with what they thought might be human remains inside.

Authorities are now investigating a possible homicide and haven't shared much more details except to say that investigators believe there isn't any ongoing threat to the public and this is an "isolated incident."
