They'd have a shell of a team around them though.

Meanwhile, the Knicks sign some scrubs in the aftermath.
JJ Reddick goes off to a youthful, exciting New Orleans squad.
Butler looks to be off to Miami but 76ers retain Harris for a lotta money and get underrated Al Horford. 6ers have an interesting cast now.
Lakers rumblings of Iguodala (after Memphis buyout), Seth Curry and Danny Green. Better than scrubs.
Barf.

If the Lakers do get Kawhi, Rob Pelinka would have a lot of work to do to build a complete roster using league minimum contracts. The team would need shooting at the wing position, and the best options might be Jared Dudley and Iman Shumpert, or J.R. Smith if he becomes a free agent. They’d need bigs, which means turning to Nerlens Noel, Kosta Koufos, or JaVale McGee. Seth Curry, Rajon Rondo, or Tyus Jones stand out as options at point guard.

Seth Curry just signed a 4 year deal with Dallas.

Russell provides that.
Or maybe not.
Who do the Warriors get for Russell?

Can't trade him to mid December. If they sign KD they were going to spend 300 million?? this year but the sign and trade kicks in hard cap of 139 million. The warriors going to have no bench.

Ben Simmons gets his max. Not sure there was another route at this point, but: Jo's NBA future is now inextricably tied to whether Simmons can learn how to shoot.

Markieff to Philly on a veteran's minimum would be interesting.

Kieff and JoJo on the same team? I guess I’m a Philly fan now.

They need some little guys.

#FreeDTae

and also, probably "Free D'tae".

D'Tae will be busy giving Charlotte 90% of Scary Terry's play at 1% of the cost.

I'd rather see #FreeFrank. I think Graham is set up for a big role. Might not win many games, but he should get a lot of time as the at worst #2 PG.

Next team I'd like to shit on: the Warriors.

Here is their lineup for vast majority of next year:

Curry
Russell
Glenn Robinson III
Draymond Green
Kevin Looney

Playoff team?

I feel like Frank has played well when he gets time... and every time he seems poised for a jump in his role, he gets injured or they go get another PG (Yogi Ferrell, Cory Joseph).

I just want him to get some PT because I still believe he'll earn at least a role.

If VanVleet can do it, I still think he can.

That's a top-5 guy and two more top-25 (?) guys. They'll be fine.

I don't have a great idea for where to put Russell, honestly. And in any case, ACLs are six-month things now. They'll have Thompson ready to go by January 1.

Thompson is late March, so they have to win games.

I think Russell is a top 25-30ish guy, but no one else is even close.

Man, you sure are NBA-grumpy right now.

I bet I could put together a West playoff team out of guys you think are trash.
