be grateful you don’t live here
not sure if this is the case for other locales that have hosted, but local news has been shoving it down our throats for more than a week
I'm 95% sure that I would much rather go to Park City for the winter games over LA for the summer games. Which, I would have vehemently disagreed with that previously.
definitely
and it’s a cool thing that we hosted, so i kind of get it. but the coverage is nauseating…if i didn’t know better, i’d think we were hosting again by the way it’s being covered locally
Well, it's kind of like when you go to the golf clubhouse in KC on a warm October Tuesday, they are going to find and put on some random ass golf tournament that is being played live.

Politics talk on NBC in the first 15 mins of the games!

Are you going to be OK? We all know you don't think sports and politics exist in the same space.

Yes.
But for reals, how long is this temper tantrum going to last?

I will say, while there are many Chinese cultures within China, those passing the flag up were only "pure" Chinese, as in, it was only a people born out of what the Chinese consider bred.
There were no other groups of people passing that flag up. The melting pot is closed. So that does make America great.

Speaking of doubling down on dumb....
How many times are you going to try that insult before you realize it's a miss?

It's a meh from me.
This is what happens when you over saturate an event that has more allure because of absence and anticipation.
It just stinks having all of these Olympics on the other side of the globe. Most of what we get to watch has already happened and been reported on. Takes some of the intrigue and anticipation out of it. And I have seen virtually zero lead-up coverage here talking about the major US stars or big accomplishments to look for so I don't have anything specifically I am excited to see.

another reason to not watch/support the olympics: dopers still allowed to compete
what a joke (particularly since she’s from a program notorious for doping)

Are you talking about the 15yr old girl who maybe wasn't even being told by her handlers what they were giving her?

yes
sucks for her, but rules are rules. presuming she’s even being honest, the punishment of not allowing her to compete is necessarily levied against that program as well
allowing her to compete makes it easy for most anyone in the future to claim ignorance about the treatments they’re given
it absolutely would suck for her if she legitimately didn’t know, but imo that shouldn’t matter if we’re expecting all athletes and their respective organizations to play be the same rules

Sha'Carri Richardson smokes some weed, banned from the games for good.
15 year old from a county notorious for doping, tests positive for doping, go ahead and compete, you just can't win a medal.

if she’s truly been railroaded by her team/coaches, i fully expect her to quit and join a different team and to not see her competing for russia (or roc) in the future
how dare they give her a banned substance and jeopardize her career

Has she passed tests since that failed test in November?
