But we're not the only ones. The others in that chart are equally guilty.
You know I’m not here to defend Italy, Spain, et al.
Just think it’s risky to rush this. Numbers don’t support it. Economic factors a different story.
And I don't disagree. It's just that, relatively speaking, we are not substantively worse than most of the rest.
I think you misunderstood my intentions of the post. I live here now, I’m mostly concerned with our re-opening. I’m sensing that cabin fever and unemployment numbers are influencing people’s belief on where we’re at on the curve.

Actually, I didn't.
I thought about posting the second chart in response to Gutter or Ousdahl rather than you, since it was their takes on your post/chart I was responding to.

Yeah I figured to take the numbers with a grain of salt because testing and stuff.
I also have concerns that “reopening” is being influenced heavily by things other than whether the virus is at bay.

To be fair we also had substantially more warning about the outbreak than Italy and the UK (but not Spain or France) - we should not take comfort in “we’re not worse”. We should have been better.

yeah, better.
it would be nice to be setting the example for the rest of the world.
and isn't the U.S. supposed to be some global leader about pretty much everything? and has been since what like WW2 or so? cuz we picked a hell of a time to abandon that role.
can anyone think of another moment in their lifetime they felt less confident about some sense of American exceptionalism, and our status in the world?

The implications of this make me want to puke:
I think I get the implications but will still kindly ask we flesh this one out, please.

For those under 65 the virus is at bay. Always has been.
The young and healthy need to get off their brain and back to it.

Really? In response to me?
I looked at a graph in which I can see for the last 25 days we have had roughly 30,000 new confirmed cases daily - and felt the need to mock Jared fucking asshole Kushner for saying, "This is a great success story".
Your "comeback" was to provide a graph showing that we don't lead the world in deaths per million people. Ok, and?
Like you, I can also go to ourworldindata.org. You don't think I can find charts to provide on here that support my feeling/s that this has not been such a "great success story"?

Define "at bay".

After steadily trending downward, the number of new cases of COVID-19 in the US has increased each of the last 3 days.
And, not one of the 50 states has met the White House Guideline for re-opening, that stipulates a decrease in new infections for the last 14 days before doing so.

And we were also told that up to 250,000 Americans were going to die.
It’s ok to reassess. It’s ok to pivot. It’s ok to be nimble in our thinking.
