Our defense is still our Achilles heel.
Mahomes was shit today but still put up 32.
If your defense gives up 40 to the Raiders, you have a major issue.

Those TDs that weren’t mattered on a hot day. It felt like the Raiders were going to win today.

The offense needed to keep the defense off the field for a little bit.

I question the defensive schemes and play calling on offense. Really weren’t prepared. Refs taking 21 off the board changed the game though

Officials taking that TD away from CEH was pretty weak.
The non call on Hill was pretty bad too.
So yea, that’s at least 10 points and we lost by 8.
Refs certainly had a role but we let two receivers bust free for long TDs. Blame the defense.

Both sides of the ball upfront got whipped. Zero pressure on Carr and Mahomes never looked comfortable. The word is out. Rush three or four, which you can still get pressure especially in his face and then drop seven or eight.
Chiefs haven't looked sharp since the Ravens game and something like this was just a matter of time.

Defensive backfield played awful for KC. Made numerous bad decisions and in general seemed to be a step slow today.
Stinks to lose to the Raiders but really this is not a big deal. KC sucked today, but they'll be fine.

Cliché, overstated call it what you want but nothing gets a teams attention faster then losing to a team you shouldn't have. Its one thing to say all the right things but in the back of your mind, and maybe rightfully so there isn't much the Chiefs haven't overcome since the Tennessee game last year. Flat, sloppy football eventually caught up with them.

Watching the Chiefs this year illustrates the beauty and the pain of the salary cap.
With what they’ll be paying Mahomes, Hill and Kelce, along with Clark and Jones and likely Mathieu, you really can’t afford to miss on contracts like Hitchens’, and you can’t afford luxuries like Watkins.
Getting around to the point: you have to start deploying cap space to the offensive line.

Can we get back to shiny white pants with a terrible towel DB?

Watkins has his annual injured for 2-3 games stretch.
But worse than that, we lost guard Osemele who was playing well in replacement.
Our OLine is kinda piecemeal.

I mean. That last part is not true. The tackles are the same as previous years, so is the RG and C. The Lg the only change and they lost the big guy, but the backup guy who will play for rest of the year is a multi-year starter in the league. It’s not as bad as what it’s made out to be.
However, Fisher and Schwartz are getting worked this year. They have to be better for Chiefs to be more consistent on offense

LDT opted out.
Our rookie OLineman opted out.
Our starting guard to replace LDT is out.
And Wylie is subpar and was facing competition to be replaced.
Fisher and Schwartz obviously mainstays.

To me it was pretty clear the Chiefs under estimated just how good the Raiders were especially after there success early on. Both sides of the ball got whipped up front. Mahomes or not playing like that will get you beat just about every week.
For the next week we are going to hear how the NFL has figured out Mahomes and the offense. Rush three or four and drop everyone else in coverage. You wanna know how you beat that. If the Chiefs see a light box, Mahomes audibles into a run play and they run power right at you. NE use to kill the Chiefs with that. Soon as a backer or safety showed they were dropping into coverage Brady would kill the play and hand off to the RB. Rinse and repeat.

I think they were clearly looking ahead to the Bills. And, to be fair, they overlooked Derek Carr and the Raiders for pretty good reason.
I also think it's fine that there's a bit of a book out on them right now. I am plenty comfortable that Reid will adjust just fine.

And there couldn't be two guys I would trust more to adjust then Reid and EB. They will figure it out.
Probably the most disturbing trend is the continued poor play of the offensive line and now without the offensive lineman who I thought was playing the best. Both tackles were also noticeably bad.

Yes - the interior isn't good enough to survive Fisher and Schwartz struggling.
