Textbook strawman.
and nobody ever said this wasn’t going to be an exciting game
It's way more than that.

Textbook strawman.
That's exactly what people are doing.

"Not our rival because they aren't in our conference anymore, UK is our rival now, oh wait not in our conference either, but we played them in a national title game almost a decade ago, and we recruit similar players, oh and champions classic 1 time every 3 years, except we always pretend that game doesn't matter, oh wait..."

Remember the UK KU mid season game in the middle of conference play a few years ago where the same group of you were saying the game doesn't matter, play the bench players, etc... yeah, that mindset screams rivalry.

We have people in this thread saying never pull starters Saturday and have Och dunk at buzzer.

It ain't the same.
TLDR.

Literally no one has said that the game wouldn't be exciting or that tickets wouldn't be expensive. That's textbook arguing against strawmen.

Here’s the only take we should have as it pertains to mizzzou hoops:

Who?

It will be fun to kick their ass but I am guessing that the actual game will not be very exciting at all. Blowouts are typically pretty boring. The main exictement will be in seeing if KU can pour it on as much as possible. There will definitely be some buzz in AFH initially with the students just finishing finals and mostly pretty wasted and the 2:15 start time will allow the public to grab a few drinks before tip off but I doubt it has the sustained crowd noise that the last Kentucky visit to AFH had. That game was crazy.

Cheapest ticket on Stubhub for the Kentucky game: $167
Most expensive: $1999

And that game isn't for 6 more weeks so those prices will likely climb.

And only one of those games is the first time playing against the team in a decade. That context certainly matters. From those numbers, quality and notoriety of opponent also seems to matter.

If Duke or UNC ever come to AFH, yikes, I can't imagine ticket prices.

Hard to predict, but when we had season tickets and would sell random games the prices usually fall, not climb as the games get closer, until there are only a few left, then they can rise a bit.

Not to mention there are a shit load more available for the UK game than the Mizzou game so there's that...but again still a ways out from UK.

Both hot tickets being Saturday games.

That was the loudest game I have ever attended in AFH and the two UK fans sitting behind me paid $500 each for their top corner seats and drove through the night from Lexington to attend.

Bill's take:

“I would assume that there won’t be a lot of empty seats,” Kansas coach Bill Self said. “It’s the best game on our schedule. You can talk about Kentucky or Baylor or Texas or this one, this is the best game on our schedule, at least from a fan participation and from a player participation. We haven’t played ’em in nine years and back when we did play them, it was the best game on our schedule.”

I've never been to consistently louder than games v MIZZOU.
The loudest i've been to was vs West Virginia where I guess we broke the record.

Loudest for me:

KU Mizzou 2005-2008ish maybe (guessing, it was when i was in college)

KU vs GT new year's day OT thriller with Langford buzzer beater.

KU vs OU when OU was good and we made a furious 2nd half comeback.

KU vs UK when they had Rondo iirc and we were underdogs and kicked their ass.

This argument, to me at least, is similar to someone stating, "Baylor is the best basketball program in the Big 12."

You could have an argument for that.
I strongly think you'd be wrong.

turning into? lol

i’ve always been of that mindset. kudos to Coach Ron Garvin at South Jr. High in Larryville…it’s his fault
I think it would be pretty disappointing not putting up at least 75 points on a team that gave up 80 to UMKC in a double digit loss. The best here is 100+ to <50.
absolutely
I already said that, you guys
