Cops with rifles and tactical shields were too scared to confront the guy but yeah, let's give some teachers a pistol and assume that will fix the problem.
Who is giving teachers pistols and saying that will "fix the problem"?

the “arm the teachers” crowd has lost their goddamn minds

I must have missed that.
The state of Ohio
And claiming it will "fix the problem"? They are saying it will help with the problem. Which maybe it will, maybe it won't. Nothing will "fix" the problem imo. All we can do is try to reduce the number of school shootings that occur and reduce the number of deaths when they do occur.
Hey, at least they are doing 24hrs of training! LOL
They are "allowing" teachers to be armed. They aren’t forcing them. Which is an important thing to note
What could go wrong?
So what happens first...a teacher kills a school shooter or a student gets ahold of a teachers gun and uses it in a school shooting or a teacher shoots at a school shooter but misses and kills an innocent kid?

Hopefully other departments across the country can learn from the mistakes made in Uvalde.

Didn't we use to have an actual retired Texas Ranger on some variation of this message board?

Ok Herb Brooks.
Being serious, please forgive my ignorance folks but I have multiple questions.
1. WHO would be supplying the teachers with guns? Federal Government? Local Government/s? Local School Board/s? Proud Boys? The Latin Kings? Eric Trump? Bill Gates?
Pretty sick that we live in a country where people feel the best (or at least a good) way to prevent a school shooting is to allow non law enforcement personnel to possess guns in schools.
2. Where are the guns going to be located? In the teacher's desk/s? In a holster on the teacher's body?
I'm sure there will NEVER be a teacher who snaps and shoots some innocent kids (or themself) in a classroom.
3. How will the teachers be trained and by who/m? At what point does a teacher have the legal right to fire their weapon? If Johnny points a gun at Sally but doesn't pull the trigger does Mrs. Johnson (the teacher) have the legal right to fire her gun at Johnny or does she wait until Johnny shoots Sally?
If I'm a teacher I quit my job before I am ever forced to have a gun in school and am at risk of having to make that decision.

Teachers should be paid more than Walker Texas Rangers.
One of the toughest and most important jobs around.

Looks like Illy was sippin' on gin and juice last night. At least I hope he was for his sake.
Even changed his avatar.
Otherwise, if he wasn't drunk.....

Speaking of serving and protecting.....
Even the best laid plans........
Many Police were there to prevent this shit from happening and clearly their presence didn't matter to the shooter - and then the animals who dispersed. It's about a mile away from me and I could see the chaos out my window.
This is an on going problem (many incidents at this beach and the nearby area) that no one seems to know how to prevent/stop.
Police scanner last night - overheard a Cop say "WE are a joke".
Terrible when the Police have pretty much given up and realize our Mayor and their Superintendent are in no way helping the (and their) situation/s.

I’ve said it before, ain’t no way in hell I will ever take a job at KU because concealed carry is allowed there. I don’t want pissed off students pumping hormones and lead. We went on an official visit, they walked us through their petroleum-funded buildings, we talked about concealed carry, then watched a lot of basketball videos. ee got a cool sticker and lots of emails.
