Dude is fantastic.

Like a Marcus Morris caliber offensive talent, and also 7’2.

And also rebounding like a 7’2” dood should.

It did help that Kentucky had what, one forward out there, in Tre Mitchell?

Yea.

But this season I think we’ll see a lot more Tre Mitchell size doods than Hunter size doods.

Hopefully he can be the big who can exploit his size against smaller lineups, rather than the other way around

Are we going to get 2 years of HD?

I think he's a lock for 1st team AA, and probably in a 2 man race for NPOY....but i don't know that he is doing much to improve his draft stock and he's likely making 7 figures at KU.

A guy can dream, right?

I like him so much more than I expected. I think a lot has to do with him making it a point to constantly mention DH and KM. He's not nearly as "me first" as I expected.

And if he stays for another year I think it will help move DH closer into rafters territory. He'll have a ridiculous amount of games, wins, assists, steals, even points. Plus, at minimum 1 natty and likely 4 #1 seeds as starting PG? That'll ruffle some feathers of DH haters.

Our PR team has trained him well.
Even Self said there were things that he had said that brings hate on himself.
His postgame interviews feel like he’s sat for hours with our team making sure he says the right things to get back in good graces.

Absolutely.

I do think DH KM and Kj all genuinely like him though, and that matters to me. I have seen zero of the toxic on court attitude/demeanor with teammates that I expected coming into the season. He seems to have embraced the KU culture and understands it is "bigger" than him.

Agree.
He’s way obnoxious for me with his celebrations on the court but he is also very good.

did we recruit HD at all when he was coming out of HS?

sitting here wondering how good he’d be if Self had him from the get go
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

HD with only 17 personal fouls on the year, the fewest among starters

not something i would’ve anticipated

Lack of interest in the game translates to lack of fouls, apparently.

Perhaps that’s why. Asking millions to play a game does to a person.

He doesn’t try on defense or attack rebounds for long stretches.

He’s incredibly talented.
He also don’t GAF.

He has emotion right after he scores.
Pump up the crowd!!!
Ugh.

He’s also gotta stop shooting threes with any sort of pressure on him at the start of the clock.

If they are laying off you by all means.

Man, I haven't seen that at all. I think he's been very engaged and for the right reasons.

But I totally understand why some people don't like him.
