I actually kind of respect the mark pope hire for Kentucky. Did they strike out on a couple other guys before landing on mark pope? Yes absolutely

But maybe they were fed up with caliparis one and done "nba development team" and wanted to get back to being more of a traditional program

Pope is a former Kentucky guy who gets the history and tradition and will be more that type of coach

He also played with Reed Sheppards dad...so I think they're hoping he'll stick around for another year or two even though he's a lotto pick.
