So who knows whether terms like "cousins" translate to biological cousins like we understand it, or whether it was some more generic term like "brother" or "neighbor" or "comrade" or something.

but as least as it pertains to Christianity specifically - it's hardly an extension of the ministry and social movement of Christ aka Jesus of Nazareth; and it is far more so the state-sponsored, state-established, state-imposed, politicizied religion of Constantine.
Here is something to ponder. If we are to believe in Adam and Eve, did they have a daughter that lived to the age of being able to produce a child? Also, if we are to believe in Adam and Eve, then why is incest a sin when without it mankind wouldn't exist? Last question, supposedly Adam lived 930 years. Does anyone actually believe a human lived 930 years?

Sure, that, and it’s fiction. 🤷🏻‍♂️

In a sense, yea I agree. Pretty much anything attempting to define "God," and all the hierarchies and dogmas that humans have established around such an idea, is still nothing more than that. Just an idea. Just something some human came up with at some point. To insist on some literal definition, which is to say, for a mortal to think they can define the immortal and divine, is just a fool's errand. It's an exercise in arrogance.

And it's a shame that the Bible came to be defined by that shit more than anything else, cuz it still contains a rich moral code, and does offer universal lessons about kindness and humility and generosity just how to not be such shitty human beings. If only Christians cared about biblical values as much as they do about biblical superstition.

What's that you say? Christians DO care about biblical values, just a cherry picked verse taken to some contextual extreme here and there to justify their own bigotry? Yup, what a shame. Cuz for every verse that can be interpreted as "God hates fags," there are hundreds of verses that much more clearly and explicitly condemn evil rich people.

I wonder if God would take a mulligan on that shit in hindsight.

I mean rather than tearing out that rib and subsequently creating humankind, he coulda just took that rib and smoked it low and slow, maybe even with a little mustard sauce and cole slaw, cuz if God loves all his creations then he's gotta love Carolina style too.

One of the biggest issues with “christians” is that they don’t read the bible. They let someone else interpret it for them.

To be fair, a large percentage of them can’t read, so…….

No, it is still out there. A lot of people seem to conveniently mistake 'capitalism' with 'communism' apparently.

and how much of that convenient mistake can be credited to capitalist propaganda

...but never mind, it's only scary when the Russians do it, right?

my favorite is the ones like "yea I agree that corporate greed should be reigned in and I agree the workers should get more say, but I just gotta draw the line at socialism..."

At this point, the GOP seems to have just decided to call everything Communism or Socialism just as a form of complaining so they can make it look like this is a problem caused by the awful Dems and not by Big Oil ruining our climate. It's pretty simple to see but their voters seem to be mostly falling for it.

Well, I couldn't leave unless the old man chased me out
'Cause I'd already promised that I'd milk his cows
I had to say something to strike him very weird
So I yelled, "I like Fidel Castro and his beard"
Rita looked offended, but she got out of the way
As he came chargin' down the stairs
Sayin', "What's that I heard you say?"
I said, "I like Fidel Castro, I think you heard me right"
And I ducked as he swung at me with all his might
Rita mumbled somethin' 'bout her mother on the hill
As his fist had hit the icebox, he said he's gonna kill
me if I don't get out the door in two seconds flat
"You unpatriotic, rotten doctor, commie rat"

I can't help but wonder if the self proclaimed genius was playing hooky or at home sick the day they taught about the 15th Amendment in his grade school.
Granted, the video does cut out and and he does say "but" so maybe he had a valid thing to say?
Nah, it's Herschel so I probably shouldn't fool myself into thinking it's a possibility.

At this point, it is just bad performance art. So dumb.

"You get to have a role in ushering in the second coming of Jesus." Gimme a fucking break, lady.
