Doesn't matter. They won't vote to convict. He could have shot someone on 5th Ave and it wouldn't matter.

Exactly. But even if they wanted to, they would need 67 votes. Ain't happening. It would be a stupid and potentially dangerous thing to do anyway. Trump is out, so no need to push it further.

You’re just admitting how fucked up you and your MAGA base are.

If you're going to blame Trump for any violence, in order to be logically consistent, the news would be responsible for all the looting, rioting, burning and murdering on private property that took place in 2020. If you assign people no agency, then that's how this works. If you believe in personal responsibility for ones actions, then there is nothing to discuss here.

5 questions of the day on the whole “republicans not alienating magaheads” thing:

1. does any plausible defense really matter? Magaheads don’t care about facts. They don’t sit around scrutinizing this shit on cspan. They only care about being assholes. They doesn’t need a defense that’s plausible. They just need fellow obstructionists to scoff every step of the trial then simply vote, “I know you are but what am I?”

2. does this really matter 2-4 years from now? Voters are so ADD. Are there enough magaheads who are really gonna hang onto “but this guy voted to convict?”

3. isn’t it possible for a lawmaker to define a tenure or campaign on some work besides whether he marched in lock step with dear leader?

4. what sort of damning facts would it take to swing a conviction vote?

5. where’s ol’ Moscow Mitch? In over 4 years of maga, he’s had all of one damning thing to say? Since he’s otherwise positioned himself as the most powerful reptile in DC, and *if* he and so many other republicans really are sick of Trump, why not just wash your hands and condemn this shit? Vocally speak up, Mitch.
