i said months ago that this team only goes as far as Dave’s realized ceiling
Let’s hope so. Nothing personal against Dave, but he’s not a good fit.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 11:22 am I wonder if this is a sign that this is definitely Dave's last season at KU.
"Not a good fit" is just a nice way to say he's not good enough to be a multi year starter/main piece at a place like Kansas, especially in years where we have national title hopes (which is most years under Self).Cascadia wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 12:13 pmLet’s hope so. This is not good and will be actively harmful down the stretch.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 10:44 am Well so much for no mind games with Dave.
Mitch starting tomorrow.
Between how much of a headcase he is, how delicately you have to handle him even as a senior, and then combine that with his preference to fade away from the basket, his poor defensive rebounding skills, and just generally not playing to his size/frame, you would tend to call that player "soft," which is Bill Self's favorite word to say when someone is pissing him off.Cascadia wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 12:13 pmLet’s hope so. I am hoping it's a one-off and Dave will respond positively, but we've seen enough to be cautious on that.hasbeen wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 12:25 pmThis is not good and will be actively harmful down the stretch.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 10:44 am Well so much for no mind games with Dave.

On paper he is a very good fit.Cascadia wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 12:13 pmLet’s hope so. Nothing personal against Dave, but he’s not a good fit.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 11:22 am I wonder if this is a sign that this is definitely Dave's last season at KU.
I actually don't even disagree with the move since Dave has been ass all season, but it's not a good sign long-term that Mitch Lightfoot is our best option.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 12:29 pmI am hoping it's a one-off and Dave will respond positively, but we've seen enough to be cautious on that.hasbeen wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 12:25 pmThis is not good and will be actively harmful down the stretch.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 10:44 am Well so much for no mind games with Dave.

Exactly, it’s the player/coach fit that doesn’t work. Dave is too soft and Self doesn’t know how to handle those types. And I’m fine with thatCrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 12:28 pmBetween how much of a headcase he is, how delicately you have to handle him even as a senior, and then combine that with his preference to fade away from the basket, his poor defensive rebounding skills, and just generally not playing to his size/frame, you would tend to call that player "soft," which is Bill Self's favorite word to say when someone is pissing him off.Cascadia wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 12:13 pmLet’s hope so. I was also thinking it was a weird player/coach fit.
The types of bigs we've played against thus far are vastly different than the type we'll see in conference.
My guess is lost. Over the past couple of years, Clemence was playing with and against better talent on average.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 1:26 pmI do wonder what Cam Martin would look like right about now.
He did. He was a d2 guy that never expected to get a opportunity like kansas. He was smart enough to try to maximize itBasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 1:38 pm I think Cam wanted the red shirt more than we did.
