Wendy's probably has the best burger of the 3 big FF burger joints.

Mickey D's may be the only breakfast place around.

"wrong"

Wrong that I had three shitty food experiences there in a row?

Bath, Maine ( last summer ):
Double cheeseburger, fries. Fries cold. Cheeseburger meh.

Eagle Hill, Boston ( Dec 2019 ):
10 piece chicken nuggets, fries. God their chicken nuggets are awful. I felt like throwing up for half an hour. Fries were cold.

Augusta, Maine ( Jan 2020 ) :
2 cheeseburgers, fries. I forgot how soggy the patties at Mc'yDeez were and deez were extra soggy. And are the fries getting greasier?

I'm done trying*. Wendy's doesn't disappoint to the level of McDonald's does.

( * I still will consider McDonald's sausage biscuits and hashbrowns )

Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich.

Wendy's Jr Bacon Cheeseburger/Single.
Wendy's Spicy Chicken Nuggets.

Anything McDonald's or Burger King brings to the table.

I would say that McD's is the most consistently bad in my experience, but that would discount the fact that last time I think I had Burger King was summer 2011, when I also coincidentally had diarrhea for two weeks straight.

We hit McD's on road trips occasionally. Their sausage is really good, the biscuits are decent, now if they would get a decent egg that was manufactured off a turnpike in NJ, it would be a great sammich.

ousdahl, CR thinks you didn't have diarrhea for 2 weeks straight.
Can you describe the experience in more detail?
Maybe start a blog?

I would say the fries at McDonald's, at absolute peak, are better than Wendy's and Burger King's peak.
It's just so rare that you get peak fries at McDonald's ( fresh, hot, not oversalted, not overgreased ) -- or at least I haven't gotten peak McDonald's fries in a long while.

McDonald's fries at non peak drop to shittiness so so fast that on a normal visit, Wendy's fries > McDonald's fries.

It's like, would you rather JR Smith or Al Horford on your team?
JR could score 40 points but he's more likely going to score 11 shooting 14 field goals.

I was in the PNW and went with some friends to this popular swimming hole on this gorgeous little river. On the way we stop and get what I remember as the last time I ate at Burger King, cuz we're kind of in the middle of nowhere and want lunch before the river and it happened to be the only joint around.

I don't remember what we ate, but do remember we waited an hour before swimming. I think I noticed some mild hives after some time in the water. That night, shit got explosive. It didn't relent until two weeks later when I finally got back to KS and got antibiotics from, and the BART diet recommend by, a doctor.

So it coulda been the BK, or coulda been something in the river water that caused it, or perhaps a combination thereof. And it coulda lasted less than two weeks if I wasn't also road tripping from WA to KS on a diet of mostly campfire sausages and whiskey. I also got In-N-Out burger in Reno, which also didn't help.

but yea, that has continued to fuck with me. I regularly consume yogurt and/or kombucha to try and bolster my gut health, cuz it just never quite got back to normal.

your assessment of fries is spot on. I dunno quite what it is either, cuz my initial reaction is that McD's culture and quality control isn't worried about sending out soggy old fries, but that theory gets doubtful in that it suggests Wendy's and BK are doing so much better with their QC.

and regarding the hoops analogy, are you asking me, or GM Lebron?

For what seems like decades, the only time I would eat at McDonald's was to get off I-70 in western Ks on my way to Co., Utah, etc., to get a couple of bacon egg and cheese biscuits, then eat them in the car heading west.

McDonald's tastes exactly like it did when my folks would take us (maybe) every other month or so.

It was like living a delicious fantasy.

I'm not going to sit idly by, while two ingrates bad-mouth what is, perhaps, the best fast food ever. EVER. ingrates.

Oh, and this mic will REMAIN dropped. or else.

<huge-fist-punching-some-poor-slob emoji> goes here...

Stopped using beef tallow to fry them.

Now, respectfully, put down the mic, and step off...
