pdub, has kcrim ever thought about sponsoring a road trip? 'Cause here's somewhere I'd like to go:

A couple of things I learned in this video:

1. I'm not using nearly enough garlic in my cooking. (Something I would have thought was impossible.)

2. I'm a total poser because I've only ever used one torch at a time.

I jacked up my knee and couldn't get to the grocery store today. Thanksgiving leftovers are almost gone. I was looking to put something together for dinner when Mrs. 99 ordered pizza hut. I'm not a fan. She asked if I wanted wings. Yeah, sure, they can't fuck up wings. Get whatever is their hottest.

These were hot, really hot. But their "Buffalo " sauce was capsaicin infused high fructose corn syrup. Absolutely disgusting.

Pretty hard to go into a Pizza Hut bag with expectations.

Yeah, I know. I'm pretty much immobile and she was ordering no matter what. She's working tonight ans neededto start getting ready. I thought the wings would be better than the pizza. Wrong.

My entire 30 years in KC was an endless search for my "favorite" pizza joint. I wanted to love Minsky's, but it wasn't to be.

I liked Waldo's Pizza fine, but wouldn't necessarily drive far for it.

Another was down in Lenexa, Stonewall Pizza. Loved their thin crust.

Another good place was located on the west side of Main just north of 39th, next door to, on the south side of, the Grand Emporium - Antonio's Pizzeria:

The food is amazing -- whether you choose pizza by the slice, a calzone, stromboli or just some appetizers, you're going to be in heaven. Everything is hot and freshly made to perfection. Take your food next door to the Grand Emporium, where you can sit and enjoy live music almost every night.

Checkout this part of the pizza menu:

Yeah, I shouldn't have added "pizza" to the description. It's a jumble, as you can see if you follow the link.

Nonetheless, their pizza was better than most.

To those who make their own coffee at home....
Do you have a water preference? Do you use tap water, filtered water, bottled water - if so, which one?
I ask being that I am 100% convinced what water I use makes a big difference in the taste of my coffee.
When I was with my sig other and stayed at her house I would use the water from her refrigerator "water dispenser". Maybe I am nuts (definitely I am nuts) but that was by far the best tasting water for coffee to me. I would experiment with K-Cups and ground coffee through filters and compare the tastes with filtered water, bottled water, and the water from her refrigerator.

I am also convinced in my home different bottled water makes a difference.
This morning I used Dasani for one cup and Ice Mountain for another.
I prefer one over the other. I'll let you guess which was my preference.

drip maker <<<< K-cup <<<<< Instant <<< French press <<<<<<<< pour over <<<<<<< espresso

I think the brew method is more important. I think I can taste the plastic in the drip maker or the K-cup more so than the water itself. But I admit I've never experimented with the water itself much either, and now I'm curious.

using bottled water for coffee has got to be about the most wasteful, pretentious, snobbish thing I can imagine.

as a whole, I agree.

I think the brew method is more important than the water or the beans.

I'd take Folgers thru a pourover, over gourmet fresh-roasted shit through a drip, any morning.

I have a cold water dispenser in my 'fridge that has a filter that removes the fluoride. Since I use that for all my drinking water, ( > 100 oz/day in an effort to prevent more kidney stones), to get the fluoride for my teeth I make all my coffee with tap water.

I tried becoming a coffee snob, but no matter how hard I tried, it was no use. Which isn't to say there aren't differences in coffees, there definitely are, but, it's not like we're talking Thanksgiving dressing here.

I feel like MICH here, but: all young people should learn to love black coffee. There is such high that guy risk in needing to be Mr. or Ms. "One cream and two splendas please" at things like meetings and interviews.

Mich is right. I don't prefer my coffee black, but I can drink it that way.

"Wasteful"? Probably/Definitely?
"Pretentious"? Possibly/Maybe
"Snobbish"? See "pretentious".
"Most"? I can probably come up with 10,000 better examples of "most". i.e. I want a cookie while I am at work, I have to pay $4.95 plus tax downstairs. I've done it.

My spending about 25 cents for water for my coffee is no doubt wasteful but I have never thought it to be pretentious nor snobbish. Maybe it is? Two people have taught me to think differently - lesson learned.

I usually roast my own, but it's too dang cold to do that now.
Minnesota has crappy water (thanks 3M) most homes have a water softener and a filtration system. I use water from the filter.

Nothing better than freshly roasted coffee. Call me a snob all you want.
