also, maybe I'm just slow, but can someone please explain what a court injunction has to do with putting him back on the team? Why can't the team say no thanks, you're gone? What has changed? We've done it a number of times at KU.
yeah, i don’t understand how the court can force the issue either
Don't worry. Illinois is doing the right thing. He will come off the bench instead of starting to show they are dedicated to players conducting Ithemselves in the correct manner.
LOL
Underwood another coach who cares more about winning than doing the right thing.
This wasn't a DUI or a bar fight. If it was, then I wouldn't care. It's rape.

Yes, by definition he is being accused of "rape". While I have mixed feelings on if he should be reinstated, and what I feel he is being accused of is/was 100% wrong if he did it, I know he is not being accused of sticking his dick in her without her consent. Which I have to assume many people think he did (or at least is accused of doing).
Fuck Illinois Basketball. As I have said before, with Shannon the Illini are a championship caliber team. Without him, they are not.
I'm not smart enough to know if Underwood is legally being forced to let him back on the team but I do know Underwood is not legally being forced to let him play.

you can't "legally force" someone to have a player on their team. That's just not possible. If it is we are way way past saveable in the new era.

I agree 100%.
So...... Why is the University of Illinois (and their athletic department) reversing course?

that's what I've been asking the last couple pages.
either they have more information than we do, something shady is happening, or lawyers and no the era of pro basketball with college Mascots is fubar.

NIL contracts absolutely have to play a part. It creates damages.

Oklahoma State and TCU playing tonight. Can’t recall seeing Gallagher Iba Arena so empty. Embarrassing.

My guess is their team being embarrassing has something to do with it.
Speaking of embarrassing, in other college basketball action last night.....
Missouri lost to go 0-6 in the SEC
Michigan lost by 32 to Purdue
Kentucky lost by 17 to South Carolina
Oklahoma lost by 15 to Texas
Wells lost by 56 to Cornell

My second favorite team to root FOR 96
#10 team in the country and my second favorite team to root AGAINST 90
Northwestern over Illinois. If NU finishes over .500 in conference they are in the tournament. It just may happen. Go Cats!
Other games played 1/24.....
Auburn lost to unranked Alabama.
Alabama is #2 in the SEC and unranked. Yes, they have 6 loses but 4 of those 6 were against teams that were ranked in the top 10 when they played them.
Pre-season top 25 and now unranked Villanova (11-8 4-4) lost by 20 to St. Johns. I don't get it. What happened to them?
They were good enough the beat UNC but bad enough to lose to Penn.

The Illini are so inconsistent. Sometimes they look like a national title contender. Other times they look borderline top 25.
I guess the same can be said about most teams this year.

South Carolina got fined $100,000 by the SEC for storming their court after they beat Kentucky. I would like the Big 12 to do similar fines only the one difference I think should happen to truly curb the behavior is that the fine gets paid to the athletic department of the team that lost. If KSU had to write a check for $100,000 to the KU athletic department for storming the court after they get a rare win against us at home I think that it would stop pretty quick.

I think court storming is a fun ( yes it is very slightly dangerous ) part of college sports that I'd hate to see completely eliminated...but man, students, you really gotta choose those very rare moments to do so.
Beating your rival you haven't beaten in a long long time. Think 10+ meetings.
Buzzer beaters over top 10 teams if you are unranked.
Beating a top 3 in the country if you are unranked.
Stuff like that.
I think just recently a fan base stormed the court after beating no. 17 in the country.
No, not acceptable.

Also, sorry, you can't storm the court if you're Kansas basketball.
A few fans did it after beating Texas way back in the day - shameful.
