Stupid question/s time.
Why does he get a vote if he hasn't been sworn in yet? He's not "legally" a member of Congress - is he?

The collection of incompetent idiots representing the GOP in Senate is truly dumbfounding.

I meant Congress, sorry. Yes, I agree with you about the House being worse by far.

“We’ve had more discussions in the last two days as a body sitting here, than we’ve done in frickin’ four years,” Roy told reporters on Wednesday
speaks volumes

I had no idea that a non-Rep could get voted Speaker.
Someone should nominate 99. He/she/them would make a great Speaker.

Great line I heard on the TV machine yesterday, unfortunately I don’t remember who said it. When asked to describe the situation the person said something to this effect: when you talk to a hostage taker and ask “now that you have the hostages what can we give you which will make you release them?” the hostage taker says “no, I really don’t need anything; I just like collecting and holding hostages” - how do you negotiate with them!!!
The only way this gets resolved is if someone puts a motion that says that no one, or their staff, gets paid until the House is in session. Why should they get paid for doing no work?

Pubs campaigned on reducing deficit.
They introduced their first bill in the new Congress. It adds over $100 billion to the deficit.
