Is it just me, or is everyone else wondering, based on such short notice, what republican Senators Thune, Shelby, Kennedy, Moran, Johnson, et al are planning to do this 4th of July, now that it looks like Putin might have a change of plans?

Wagner mercenary leader Yevgeny Prigozhin says he is standing down and plans to withdraw his soldiers headed for Moscow, according to a post on the messaging app Telegram. NBC News' Matt Bodner reports on Prigozhin's reason for the turnaround and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko's role in negotiating with him to stand down.

Good job, everyone.

There's a million different ways that this could play out. The fact that they are just marching along unopposed is very suspicious. Tons of speculation out there with a dozen different possibilities as to what the end game is here for both Prigozhin and Putin. We'll just have to sit back and see how it plays out.

So this was just a big publicity stunt to send this guy out to pasture? If the guy was actually trying to oust Putin then his head would be on a pike outside the Kremlin.

Russian state media is reporting that the criminal case against Yevgeny Prigozhin would be dropped. The news agency reported that Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, also said Prigozhin would "go to Belarus." This has not been independently confirmed by NBC News.
