Yeah, we didn’t.
Like I said, paradoxically.

And paradoxically, 1-5 we had the biggest lineup ever last year.
We didn't. We were tiny.
I know it seems weird.
But we didn’t have a single starter smaller than 6’5”.
Add up the height of each starter and that was bigger than any other Self starting 5. CnB pointed this out a few weeks ago.
We were undersized. Don't go Pdub and ignore what you saw because of what's in the stat sheet.
And any size we did have, we didn't use. This may have been a team that did the least with their size than any.
DMac, is big, but plays below the rim, isn't a great rebounder, isn't a great shot blocker.
Wilson gets a lot of rebounds, is a decent post defender. Other than that, I don't think he used his size for anything, not a great shot blocker, not great at getting buckets in close for a PF.
Agbaji and Braun didn't play big. Other than having decent reb numbers which is necessary playing 4 out, neither guy utilized his length for anything.
I already posted about Garrett. He did use his length, but playing PG made his length less impactful than in his previous seasons.
Oh. And we got our asses kicked by big teams.

Yeah.
And, again sorta paradoxically, Self addressed it by bringing in a bunch of small guards.

But it isn't a paradox. You could look at our team during the opening tip...we weren't big.
Also, we live in the world of wingspan (and hip height)
I think we had vitruvian men at positions 2-5. I mean Dok had a 7'7" wingspan, I bet McCormacks is 7' or less. Wiggins had a 7' wingspan, no one playing the 2-4 spots had that kind of wingspan.

Yeah, this we can agree on.
But if they are fast athletes who can create shots...it's probably worth no addition in length.

Also, it's not JUST height but athleticism. If you can jump out the gym, you're gonna play bigger.
Dok had a 37" in vert...Dmac ain't touching that.
You think Wilson/Braun/Och are hitting 44" verts like Wiggins, or whatever Josh Jackson's is?

Oh not at all.
Heck, despite listed heights, Brush played bigger than Jalen. Because wingspan and athleticism, like you said

Jalen and BRush might be almost the same height in real life. Hard to judge based on listed height by the school and i haven't seen Jalen in person yet.

And remember, BRush played the 3, Wilson is playing the 4.
So, how can you say it was a big lineup?

Exactly. Go position by position (you did above) and most these guys aren't in the top 3 of their position during the self era....and the lone exception should have been our 4 instead of our 1.

BRush and Braun both lined up at the 3, and both listed as 6’6”.
So really the only difference between the two must be the ink.

Rush had a 6'11" wingspan...and used it on defense.

Maybe the most under appreciated defender of the Self era. Particularly because he committed to it when he was a recruit that didn’t have to.
Mario-Russ-Rush was fucking insane
