it would be funny ( well not that funny but kinda funny ) if ksu won the b12 and ended up a 5 seed in DC or Ville and we ended up a 4 in KC.
For the city's sake, I really hope at least
one of the local schools is here. If not, best-case scenario is still annoying (UK or something here). Worst case is a really, really flat event.

Goes without saying, tonight is a must win if we want a chance at a share.
If we can take care of business, according to KenPom, we'll have a 50% chance or better ( 74%, 50% @ OU, 72% ) at winning our remaining games.
ksu is at 47% @ TCU.
Tech at 48% @ ISU.
TCU and ISU would need to be the spoilers.

The math is tough - even if we win out, that's about a one-in-four chance, right? I guess a little better when factoring in the possibility of both those schools losing "easier" games.

Yes, chances are not great, but they are much much greater if we win tonight.
I can very much see ksu slipping up at TCU.
For me though, it's tough to see us nabbing both OU and OSU but I think we would if the title was still dangling.

I've been around BBN enough that I'm OK with the city losing money by them not being slotted here. Really hoping they get their preferred Louisville location.

BBN some of the worst fans I can remember ( in my experience ).
Worse than MIZZOU, ksu, Duke.
On par with getting in the wrong section of Chiefs fans.

This is a year where there is quite a bit of benefit to winning the Big 12 Tournament compared to most.
Need wins. Need reps.

Lots of state fans bitching about KU being a 3 or a 4 seed while kstate will be a 5 or a 6.
I don't think they realize that non-con matters quite a bit. KU beating NCAA tourney teams in non-con like Michigan St, Tennessee, Marquette, Wofford, Villanova and others boost KUs seeding tremendously.
Also, a lot of them think the conference is won outright if they win tonight. They seem to forget Tech is right at their heels. Don't really blame them though, they are rookies to this whole thing.

Tonight would be a perfect time for Grimes to go 3-5 from 3 and Ochai to get 20.

It's interesting b/c I'd argue:
Tech is the best team.
KU has the best resume.
Kansas State has the best record.
Of course, for seeding, resume matters most.

Would you rather:
A. Share B12 title with ksu, loose final game B12 tourney to ksu, loose sweet 16 game.
B. 2nd place B12 reg season, 1 game back of ksu, win final game in B12 tourney v ksu, loose elite 8 game.
C. 2nd place B12 reg season, 1 game back of Texas Tech, win B12 tourney v Tech, loose elite 8 game.

This season I'd take any scenario where the streak lives on. But we need a miracle.

Any scenario?
Share B12 title with ksu, loose 1st round B12 game, loose 1st round NCAA tourney game as a 3 seed by 30, Grimes, Ochai, Dotson, Udoka, Dedric all leave for the pros?
If I had the choice between these 4 returning: Udoka, Ochai, Grimes, Dotson OR finishing 2nd this year, leaving the streak at 14, a record that stands alone and which won't be broken, i'll take that 2020 roster.

Yup. Any scenario. The streak is the main goal. Mostly because a national title isn't a realistic goal.

Although I still think it's entirely possible we have the games SDS played in last year vacated.. so we may be worrying about a streak that's already ended.

We're not vacating any games.
Of course among the choices of extending the streak or not extending the streak, I'd rather extend the streak.
But, the record's been set, and given that the streak will eventually end, I don't particularly care when it does. I guess this year is as good as any considering the injuries and roster hits we've taken. No conference title but we somehow luck our way into a 2nd straight final four? Yes, I'd take that all day.

KU has won the league every year since I graduated.
I'd prefer this streak continues, regardless the circumstances...

Huh.
So you'd sacrifice next years B12 and National title hopes just if you could reach 15.
( see above scenario where you loose all our talented freshmen and Udoka and end up with a starting lineup of Charlie Moore, Christian Braun, Marcus Garrett, Mitch Lightfoot and David McCormack )

Yes.
It's odd to feel what every other B12 team normally feels like.
