I think we've got to move on from Jones.

Took 68.11% of snaps this season, down from 79.79% the year before. He's been on the sideline on obvious, crucial passing downs. He'll turn 30 this summer.

You can't spend big money on that guy.
Missing a game this year vs not missing one last year affects those stats. He's been an integral part of an elite defense. It mostly just depends on how much money he wants. I expect that he will price himself out of town but if he doesn't then I'd be thrilled.

I guess, to me, when you think about all the pending (and soon-to-be-pending) free agents...he's very far down the list. I would pay Sneed and McDuffie first. And Humphrey and probably Trey Smith. The linebackers won't cost nearly as much to keep.

Overall, I don't think there's a good case to be made to bring Jones back at something competitive with what he could get elsewhere.

I'm guessing he wants something like 4 years 120 million with 75 in guarantees.
I dunno about that.

As we talked about, Chris can make up some ground in endorsements if he stays on the Chiefs. I don't see much future in a contract elsewhere. Hope he signs, but Pdub is right--he eats into must-signs at too high a salary.

i would hope that’s the conversation the front office has with him

you can either really help your TEAM win, or go elsewhere and try to get paid

That's what Orlando Brown did.
That's what Tyreek Hill did.
That's what Tyrann Mathieu did.

Just would prefer those dudes to be honest/not sugar coat it.
"I got a better offer here than what the Chiefs were offering," instead of, "it's not about the money."

Also, hi Tyreek:

"Obviously, like I’m gonna go with 15 as the strongest arm but as far as accuracy-wise, I’m going with Tua all day," Hill responded.

"Tagovailoa did own a completion percentage over expectation of +0.9%, compared to Mahomes' -2.1%, which lends credence to Hill's statement that the Dolphins' quarterback is the more accurate passer".

Did Tua's team lead the league in drops?
Or did they have both Hill and Waddle - a top 5 WR tandem in the league?

Additionally, what percentage of plays were scrambles and broken plays due to poor pass protection?

Hill said what you quoted him as saying in 2022. Right?

OK, well then in that case, Mahomes had a higher pass completion % than Tua, 67.1% to 64.8%, with almost 1000 more air yards ( meaning longer throws ).

VGR!
You're a smart guy. A lot smarter than I am but....
Hill said it BEFORE the 2022 season started. Right?
So why are you providing their 2022 and not the 2021 stats? I could be wrong but my guess is Hill said what he said based on a what have you done for me lately thought.
Competition percentages don't 100% equate to accuracy. Right?
Well, if you feel they are the best indicator then guess what? Tua proved he was more accurate than Pat in 2021. Right?
Moving on.... "Longer throws"? Maybe. Maybe not? I admit I don't know how "air yards" are measured. If a QB throws the ball 15 yards in the air but only 2 yards over the line of scrimmage does that count as 15 "air yards"? I assume air yards is just that and YAC has no bearing on a QBs "air yards".
Regardless of all that, I'm pretty sure Mahomes had a shit load more passes and completions than Tua had. That probably helps add "air yards".

Then in that case Hill turned out to be wrong.

"If a QB throws the ball 15 yards in the air but only 2 yards over the line of scrimmage does that count as 15 "air yards"?"

No.
Height has nothing to do with air yards.

"They account for all of the yards that the football travels while in the air from the line of scrimmage to the intended receiver on a forward pass."

I swear I am not trying to be difficult - nor dumber than I am.
For clarification......

If Fields throws the ball directly in front of him and the receiver is 4 yards past the line of scrimmage when he catches it, that would count as 4 air yards no matter if Fields threw it 20 yards behind the line of scrimmage?

Also, what if Fields throws the ball to the sideline and the the receiver is 1 yard past the line of scrimmage? Just one "air yard" when in reality the pass could possible be traveling as much as 50 yards in the air - but it would only count as 1 "air yard"?

If so on both of those scenarios, it seems kind of a goofy stat to me and calling it "air yards" is at least somewhat deceptive.

Given that a football field is just barely over 50 yards wide this would imply Fields is on the opposite side of the sideline, foot almost out of bounds, from his receiver, who is almost out of bounds too.

Yes, the stat does not count for every scenario but in general it does a good job over a season determining how many deep balls vs shallow ones a quarterback has thrown.

Hmmm.
I realize there is a big difference between completions and attempts but do Tua's 8.9 yards per attempt in 2022 mean he wasn't throwing the ball as "deep" as Mahome's 8.1 yards per attempt because of something called "air yards"?

Tua wasn’t completing them.
Hence the inaccuracies.
