Not one bit
Maybe the fact that Trump, despite being a former President, has failed to make it to even 60% of the vote in any of these Primaries so far should be viewed as "encouraging", I don't know. I don't have enough knowledge of what would be expected of a President in this case largely because I don't recall there ever being a former President who lost re-election and then ran again to compare it to.

I just see thousands of items that should each be disqualifiers, each more heinous than the last that just never end up getting rid of him. He's the ultimate unsquishable cockroach.

I am just so done with this era of Trumpism. The hatred and nauseating, vile repulsiveness of it have worn me out.
It's literally brother-against-brother.

And I hold GOP members of Congress, and the political media, much more responsible than I do the voters.

The Biden impeachment nonsense is a great example - Grassley, Comer & Pals knew without a doubt that the evidence was squishy, and probably made up. And yet they, aided by the media, used their asymmetrical access to information and access to microphones to knowingly make shit up.

But this has played out OVER AND OVER AND OVER again, in nearly every single political issue or story for the last ten years.

The people we have elected to use their access and privilege, and the people we trust to tell us what those people are doing and why, have failed us.

I hate to break it to you but it's going to be WAY beyond November before this insanity goes away. The GOP has officially recognized this as their best path towards delaying their decline. This is the new normal.

See, I'm more optimistic than you I guess (referring also to your post about this being forever).

I think what we are seeing is the desperate flailing of an opposition coalition (of odd bedfellows) that absolutely knows it cannot hold together much longer. That opposition coalition MUST sell out to achieve effective minority rule SOON, or the opportunity* will be lost.

* One thing that R voters should probably fucking consider is that Trump had an extremely-unusual power trifecta and - prior to Covid - did absolutely nothing with it. That should be disqualifying in and of itself!

Speaking of fun.....
I'm debating which one of these two to vote for - for the sake of my wanting to vote for a fun President.

The guy who is so bat shit crazy that he makes Trump look sane.

Image

Or the guy who should run a campaign ad with this video on a 30 second loop and a voice over that says - Can Joe and Donald do this - on purpose?

Sometimes, I assume too much.

https://allpoetry.com/The-Solution
From your link.

Analysis (ai): This poem confronts the disconnect between government and people, particularly in the aftermath of political unrest. By satirically suggesting that the government dissolve the people, the author exposes the absurdity of holding the people accountable for their government's failures. "The Solution" differs from Brecht's other works by taking an explicitly political stance, highlighting his growing disillusionment with communism. The poem is also characteristic of the post-war era, where disillusionment and political challenges were prevalent. It reflects Brecht's lifelong commitment to social justice and his belief in the power of art to critique the status quo.

I just find it absurd that some people review the performance of Trump and the symptoms and backlash of Trumpism and say "hey, let's roll it back with that guy". I hear all the time that the GOP wants to move on from Trumpism but the real world data doesn't seem to reflect that.
Correct.

You hate the voters for fucking up "muh democracy (TM)" which is kinda hilarious.
Maybe this helps.

So, in 2016 the Rubepublicans went to the polls and used democratic means to elect their favored sociopath. They loved it so much they wanted to be grifted and chaosed and blatherpandered at for 4 more years!

But they found democratic means were not sufficient to get a majority of people to run the orange skinned shitshow back for 4 MORE YEARS!

So they tried a coup and now are using every bureaucratic/institutional weapon/tool they can get their hands on to circumvent/manipulate the democratic process in the next election so that once they get the control of the steering wheel they can run their clowncar off a cliff and destroy the democratic process because it does not look like it will give them their intended results in the future either.

This is sorta where we are…it’s not fancy pants poetry but god damn it I ain’t never claimed to be a fuckin poet.

Is it ironic that antidemocratic forces are using a democratic process in their endeavor to destroy the democratic process?

OK, I sees it.

Is it ironic that the supporters of the democratic process find it abhorrent that the antidemocratic forces will use a democratic process when it suits them knowing they might again try to burn it all to the ground when it doesn’t?

Fine, if I squint really hard when I reads it I sorta sees it.

Trump did nothing that would gain him supporters in his 4 year masterclass in fucking everything up. Quite the opposite.

It cost him the 2020 election.

Now, he and his cult are making a last ditch run to burn it all down.

How anyone cannot see this is the tough part for me to grasp.

No one voted for Edith in 2020, and no one will vote for her this year either.

You’re getting at something really important, which is that a bloodless paper coup…is a coup.

It’s a coup if it happens in a day, and - critically - it’s a coup if it happens over a period of years.

Say, the four years commencing on January 20, 2025.

Pushing a candidate who is clearly a seditionist and insurrectionist is pretty stupid on all levels. Not certifying should be an expectation.

And Russell is a rep from what State?

Didn't trumpty dumpty's attorneys posit that the sitting president could kill rivals and not be charged with murder unless impeached or something to that effect?

I don't see Biden doing that either, but do go on.
