Every couple of years around the 4th I watch Saving Private Ryan, one of the better films I’ve ever seen.

Whether some think as misconstrued sense of patriotism, I still feel a sense of gratitude and pride and hope that at the core, America can be a good nation.

Also at the end, Hanks saying “earn this” is in my top 5 onion cutting scenes. John Williams has a lot to do with that.

I always watch Jaws.

I only get so many 'horror' movies every year.
That's been slotted as a horror movie.

My grandfather walked out of saving private ryan in the first half hour. Couldnt do it, said he'd already lived it and too hard, couldnt go back to it. He was excited to watch it too, he thought he would enjoy it.

But 4th of July is more for something stupid like Animal House or something more fitting like "The Patriot".
