Crazy how the "stars" aren't really the story of these playoffs.

Yes, bad shit happens to people - not necessary all the time but it happens.Overlander wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 7:54 am "In regards to you telling me to "grow the fuck up", I have mixed feelings. If you are saying that in terms of constructive criticism then I say thank you and duly noted. If you're saying it out of malice, then I don't say thank you and who the heck are you to tell me to grow the fuck up?"
What I mean is, bad shit happens. To everyone, all the time.
You can either cry "jinx", clutch your pearls and whine about it, or you can let it go and get on with what is left of your short, shitty life.
Of course it is terrible when bad things happen.....but they happen.
I suppose I am jaded, but I choose not to dwell on the negative or tragic. You seem to need it.
I think I have earned the right to "cry jinx", whine about it, and anyone in my situation might do the same. Yes, of course I will go on with my life (that's not really shitty) but to give you and others some insight in to SOME (but not all) of the "bad shit" I am currently dealing with....
I have a brother in law who I am very close with that had esophageal cancer, prostate cancer, and has colorectal cancer.
He currently can't eat or drink anything due to complications. What little nutrition he is getting is being shot up in to his vein/s. He can't control his bowels so he shits (or maybe I should say leaks) in a diaper sometimes 20 times a day. His back is so fucked up the analogy is Mike Tyson punched him in his back and he has that feeling 24 hours a day. Because of that and stress fractures in his feet he can't walk - at all. He currently is laying in a hospital bed with a hole in what is left of his colon that is slowly leaking "septic" in to his body. He is going to die in a matter of days or weeks so I guess maybe he is going to get "better" but what's left of his life is as shitty (no pun intended) as could be.
My sister was hospitalized with ulcerative colitis that was so bad she couldn't eat for a couple of months and also had to get transfusions. Due to her health and stress she has lost much of her hair and looks like a chemo victim.
My mother is a cancer victim. Thankfully doing well in that regard but she has many other serious ailments. During covid she fell and fractured her hip. She is extremely reliant on me and I wasn't allowed in the emergency room with her. Then she was put in a rehab facility and I wasn't allowed in there either. She was alone when she needed someone to be there with/for her.
She is so fucking distraught with what is going on with my brother in law and sister that she's literally having a break down and I'm the one trying to keep her sane in the middle of all this.
I myself have health issues that include but are not limited to "heart disease".
While I was told it's "probably not", I found out I may have lung cancer. Whatever it is, my lungs are fucked up. And of course I have "mental illness" as well.
Don't get me wrong, there are people who have it worse off that I do but I'm me and I deal with things differently. I used to turn to drugs and alcohol to cope. I don't do that anymore so I have to come up with different coping strategies - while being a person who has struggled with massive depression.
I freely admit it hasn't been easy for me.
So I'm sorry that at times I really have no choice but to deal and dwell on the "negative and/or tragic".
I assure you I don't need it nor want it.

I think there are inconsistencies.
I don't think there are planned inconsistencies to help popular teams advance in the playoffs.

I'm generally not that big of an NBA fan but these playoffs have been especially intriguing for me.Overlander wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 8:08 amCrazy how the "stars" aren't really the story of these playoffs.
Great to see new/young stars establish themselves.
Some great story lines too. Wondering if it's going to be a Lakers repeat, if the Nets dethrone them, or if an unexpected (to me) team wins the championship.
Re: NBA 2020/2021
That we agree upon but.....
It's hard for me not to question why games are called in the manner in which they are.
On an unrelated note, I smiled last night when Ron Harper tweeted....
Dude reminded me of.....
This could have gotten REAL ugly.

Bucks/Heat
Buckets. GAWN! Swept.
Blazers/Nuggets
After scoring 108 point in his first 3 playoff games the 2021 League MVP(?) scored 16 and had a game worst -32. Doesn't matter. Neither the Blazers nor Nuggets are going to beat a healthy Lakers team.
6ers/Wiz
I predict an altercation that leads to an ejection. On or off the court.
Might be 78 year old Robin Ficker.
Jazz/Grizz
I'm thinking the Grizz are going to win. I hope they do.

AD hurt.
Bron struggling.
Ayton abusing Drummand.

Chris Paul money.
Re: NBA 2020/2021
Bron deferring so far.
With no AD, he needs to attack the basket.
Instead its Markieff failing.

Re: NBA 2020/2021
Playing Caruso would feel like having to play Charlie Moore on a team with Frank Mason and TRob.
Re: NBA 2020/2021
Two KU players out there for the Lakes to end this quarter.
Re: NBA 2020/2021
Chris Paul is back and healthy.
AD not.
We got a series.
Who can Lakers roll with if AD is out?
Kuzma? Woof.

1) Some remote claim to fame of someone you know 3 times removed....met in passing....saw.
2) Some tragedy that you kind of, sort of, actually didn't witness. Including local news stories of something that happened somewhere in the Chicago area that you can link back to yourself.
3) A dying, soon to die, deathly ill friend/relative tale that somehow is expected to draw a bunch of "sorry to hear that" and "it's gonna get better Gutter" comments.
4) "Why are you so mean to me?" Posts.
I am never trying to brag, never my intent.
I speak of my interests, most of which center around enabling myself to retire debt free by age 60. I am on track to do so, and I take a significant amount of pride in that.
I apologize if I hurt your feelings, that was not my intent. But you have definitely become more abrasive and butt hurt over the past 2 years.
Please, save me the tale of why.
And grow the fuck up.

Are you fricking kidding me? AGAIN? What the heck is wrong with people?
Re: NBA 2020/2021
I have a few thoughts:
1) I am still amazed that literally over a decade later Gutter is able to hijack threads. I genuinely believe it is a skill.
2) Why the fuck can't people control themselves at sporting events? The pandemic seems to have made everything worse.

1)
A. I started this thread.
B. Please forgive me ignorance. Sure I have hijacked threads (and at times acknowledged and apologized for it in the actual post) but where/when did I hijack THIS thread?
Maybe I don't fully understand the definition of hijacking a thread.
Cascadia made a snide comment on page 13. I responded to his comment.
Jeeper accused me of the "humble brag" on page 13. I responded to his post.
I responded to Mjl's non-NBA post on page 16.
Jeeper made another non-NBA post on page 16 and I responded to it.
Did I not attempt to bring the thread back on topic several times that others brought it off topic?
2)
A. I wish I knew the correct answer to your question. My three theories are that alcohol plays a role for some/many/most who do it, the need to feel important and get themselves noticed - in an age where social media is so prevalent, and some people are just assholes.
B. I don't know about "everything" but it sure seems many things.
Looking like the Clippers are going to win tonight. I figure if they do, they win the series.
