Twitter is already a disaster if you don't pay attention to the accounts you follow. I don't see this changing much of anything in my twitter feed. If it does then I will cull the list of things I follow even further.

In a broader context, has banning dipshits, scumbags and racists from twitter lessened the number of dipshits, scumbags and racists? No. Has it reduced the impact of those dipshits, scumbags and racists? No.

Especially when only certain groups are being targeted. And I don't mean Dems or Pubs. I mean allowing known terrorists to post freely but banning far less dangerous individuals.

Elon is very strange, but doesn't seem nearly as evil as some of the other rich people.

at least Boeing is on the hook for the $1bn in overruns for the new AF1 deal and not the taxpayers.

there's that whole $6 billion dollar exchange between Musk and the UN too

Musk: describe a plan how 2% of my wealth could solve world hunger and I'll donate it

UN: here's the plan

Musk: OK but where's the money go? show your accounting

UN: shows accounting

Musk: spends $44 billion on twitter instead

Solve? Or help fight?

Big difference.

Has he said he won't do it? He didn't say show me any plan and I will send it right over. Seems awfully stupid to be outraged about it at this point because he bought twitter. They have nothing to do with each other.

What if he thought their plan was bullshit?

it'd be cool if Elon was more generous up front either way. Proactively approach the UN (or just use the vast resources at a billionaire's disposal to take the initiative yerself) and say, "here's a good faith donation to help fight world hunger."

but instead, we get antagonistic tweets.

The link that YOU posted referenced 5.7 billion dollars worth of Tesla stock that he donated to an unspecified charity last year.

He does more than send out antagonistic tweets.

oh!

well

then...

"...publish the (Musk donation's) current and proposed spending in detail so the public could see exactly where the money would go."

AKA So the public could sit on their ass not doing volunteer work or donating money and just bitch about how they don't think the massive donation was enough/to the right organization, etc...

The public doesn't need to know anything about who or how much money that anyone donates. It's none of your business.

it just seems funny that Elon started by demanding all this transparency from the UN, then doing whatever he ended up doing quietly instead. Do as I say, not as I do.

It may even be suspicious, considering Elon started all this as some attention stunt for himself; then apparently avoided bringing attention to, and even acted deliberately in secrecy about, whatever he actually put the money to.

Not that that's not his prerogative! Right? Evil rich people can do whatever their evil rich little hearts desire with all that wealth they've hoarded. Heck, maybe he is acting in secrecy in some humble virtuous "let your left hand know not what your right hand is doing" kinda way, but I kinda doubt it.

No, the words mean extremely different things.

He didn't demand anything. He asked. But semantics, right?

And does it even matter to you if their "plan" was bullshit?
