Desperate to bolster his record as election season approaches, Joe Biden is shouting from the rooftops about his handling of the economy. But even with the welcome news that inflation has dropped to 3 per cent and equities rallying, Americans aren’t convinced. His approval rating is at 41 per cent, close to the lowest level of his presidency – and the economy remains the number one issue.

Oblivious and tone deaf to these concerns, as usual, Biden has been trumpeting his economic victories. His critics respond with a litany of policy failures and missed opportunities that have left ordinary working Americans anxious for their finances. The inflation rate was just over 1 per cent when Biden took office; it peaked at 9 per cent last June, the highest level in four decades.

And while inflation has slowed, the price of staple goods is still soaring. Bread shot up nearly 12 per cent, frozen vegetables 17 per cent, baby formula and rents 8 per cent. While Biden brags about his record, families are struggling to feed their children. It’s no wonder Americans think the USA is heading in the wrong direction.

Part of the blame falls on Biden’s heavy-handed regulation, which has piled vast cost onto American businesses. Another might be attributed to mounting Government debt, which has soared past $32 trillion. The threat of increased taxation as the ranks of the IRS swell is creating a lingering sense of dread.

Biden can claim little credit for what has gone well. His “Inflation Reduction Act” was effectively a borrow and spend package pouring tax credits into so-called “green” technologies. While it’s likely to add $750 billion to the nation’s debt over the next decade, the University of Pennsylvania found that its impact on inflation was “statistically indistinguishable from zero”. The only real result in the near term is that it’s likely to slightly decrease short-term economic growth; at least something was reduced.

Wherever you turn, Biden’s calamitous presidency is turning into an American horror story. Reading and math scores are at their lowest levels in decades. Worker productivity is plummeting while drug overdose deaths reach record highs. Crime has people living their daily lives in fear.

And what’s Biden’s response to this? To tout his achievements. To preen about his record. Like so much else about his shameless presidency, his economic messaging is utterly out of touch with reality. It is almost unbelievable that this shambling mess is viewed as a re-electable candidate.
"The threat of increased taxation as the ranks of the IRS swell is creating a lingering sense of dread."

Eh, what? They don't increase the amount of taxation because they hired more IRS resources. They increase the amount of people who have to ACTUALLY PAY WHAT THEY OWE.

And we have covered the costs of groceries on here a thousand times so it's clear you just aren't reading anything that anyone else posts.
That's one way to interpret it. The other - the more likely, in my opinion - is that tax laws are about to change in a serious way, and they are staffing up to enforce them, including teaming up with law enforcement to go to homes and arrest people.

Just because you "have covered" food inflation "a thousand times" doesn't mean you are correct or that yours is the only perspective. You assume that, having read your take, I must accept it as the final word. I don't.

For the record, also note the source of the article. Not a right wing conspiracy rag. Guess that doesn't matter if it's not lauding Brandon's accomplishments.

You do understand that the President cannot change tax laws, don't you? That would be Congress. JFC.

When no serious changes to the tax laws happen between now and the next election, I assume you will be back here to state that you were wrong.

Here's this in regards to the nonsense the GOP is shilling about these new IRS agents.

https://time.com/6260075/irs-87000-agen ... lican-lie/

In case you get bored and stop reading early:

"But that hasn’t stopped the conspiracy theories. The 87,000 new IRS agents claim appears to emanate from a May 2021 Treasury Department report that said such an investment is estimated to enable the agency to hire roughly 87,000 employees by 2031. But most of those wouldn’t be agents or necessarily even new positions. The increased funding was designed to cover a range of positions, including IT technicians and taxpayer services support staff, as well as experienced auditors who would be largely tasked with cracking down on corporate and high-income tax evaders.

Meanwhile, more than half of the agency’s current employees are eligible for retirement and are expected to leave the agency within the next five years. That means the IRS might net roughly 20,000 to 30,000 more employees from the new funding, enough to restore the tax-collecting agency’s staff to where it was roughly a decade ago."

The "source of the article" is the author (Lee Cohen), not the aggregator (MSN).

It does not take much effort to confirm that, in fact, one would be correct to question his objectivity and the soundness of his analysis.

i would post source upon source about the hundreds of miles of wall that your hero’s administration has built, some of which was directly paid for by federal money

but, of course you’ll make excuses and move the goal posts like a child because you either willfully ignorant about the truth, or too embarrassed to just admit you’re wrong

you’re fucking broken
Does an incomplete wall work? Does a dam with holes in it keep water back?
You know what works? Severely punishing who employ undocumented workers.
Yeah I'm all for that. That would piss a lot of rich scumbags off on both sides of the political spectrum
