I do not want the schools paying the players. That's not what schools are for.
Employees and members of these collectives get special access to the program.
Better seats / free tickets. Banquets. The works.
They get to hang out with the coach. Or the coach shows up to an event they want them to.
Then the coach and the program ( who are paid by the school ) take that NIL money and divvy it up as they see fit to attract the recruits they are after.
It's like saying "oh my kid won this board game I had nothing to do with it" when you directed him/her every turn.
