Not really. I guess that some degree of hatred is required for me to personally feel like they are a rival. They may hate us, but I don't I really give them much thought at all.

Fair enough....on an individual level, we all have different teams we dislike the most. I strongly dislike University of Illinois, so whenever we play them that feels like a rivalry game for me (and for Bill Self I'd imagine based on how shitty portions of their fanbase was to his family after he left for Lawrence).

Side note: Wonder if we play KState on ESPN during rivalry week again?

The last time we played UK for a national title was almost a decade ago.

The rest of the time you guys have all said how that game in the early part of the season at CC, or middle in those few weird SEC/B12 challenge years, didn’t mean anything.

UK is a rival in the sense that we are #1 & #2 in all time wins. They are one of our only true peers.

But they aren't a rival in the way mizzou is a rival. Bill Self literally said as much in the last day or so.

I also think the UK thing gets a boost is some of your minds because many of us dislike Calipari.

10 years of you hating UK doesn't erase 100+ years of thousands (and thousands) of Jayhawks hating Mizzou.

So however you've managed to convince yourself over the last 10 years that they aren't a rival is irrelevant now. Today that rivalry gets renewed, and i expect we will play them each and every season moving forward.

I have too many friends that went to MU to have the passion as I age. But I do remember listening to the UK game when KU blew an 8 point lead in the last 18 seconds.

And to this day, despite that moment, despite my thoughts for Larry Brown, I think Ted Owens got jobbed when he was fired. He gave Coach Brown a Final Four team even without Danny Manning. Mostly with Kansas kids.
