And despite fewer minutes, and the injury and doghouse treatment, Remy’s averaging almost twice as many points, similar assist and TO numbers, and twice the rebounds as Dajuan.

And at least last night optics wise, we seemed to play better with Remy in there…or generally just play better when the opponent doesn’t win the gamble of not guarding our primary ballhandler.
I mean, Self said "Who would I take out?" I think once he sees the film today, he'll see just how much Tech attacked Dajuan. And if teams attack Dajuan and he's a liability on the offensive end, Self will see that Remy playing more ain't that bad. He can only see so much, especially when the ball is on the other side of the floor all of the 2nd half and OTs.

It's not. Check out Newell's videos.
?

I at least checked his Twitter but didn’t see any vids about Dajuan lately

Was thinking the same thing. He likes Harris, but he might not grade out as well when they go over the film.

But, if his decision was entirely about defense, both PGs were getting abused and in general DH is the better defender, and that may have been the thought process. Not sure how you can ignore the difference in production on the offensive end.

One issue that was unique to TTU that impacted both Remy and DH, was that they continually had layups blocked from behind.

I don't think most teams have a guy guarding the PG with that kind of length and ability to recover by making up ground the way TTU did when they were switching all 5 positions.

Yes. TT has a unique squad. Play lots of wings and PFs. Weird team to match up with.

100% agreed. Self just doesn't trust Remy yet because he gambles too much and he lacks an attention to detail that causes him to let the little stuff slip him by. Until Remy tightens up the little things, Self is going to trust the player who does the simple things right every time. Remy has higher potential, but he also has higher volatility. Dajuan is more reliable because Self trusts that he'll do the little things right even if he doesn't have the same big play ability. And when you have Och, you can sacrifice big play ability in the clutch for a guy that won't have a mental lapse and get beat. Basically, until Remy displays that attention to detail in minutes 1-30, he's not going to play as much in minutes 31-40.

Nowell from Kansas State was a sobering look at what having a ballhandler that can do more than dribble up the court without turning it over can do for an offense.

Yes, Juan does have a good AST/TO ratio, but we're going to have to learn to live with a couple more TO's and a little worse defense in exchange to make our offense even more explosive. The transition game was beautiful last night. This personnel is just set up for a different style of coach.

I am totally on the Remy needs to play more camp. Texas Tech is a perfect matchup for his skillset, getting into mismatches and blowing past his defender to create a shot at the rim. But I also understand why he isn't playing more because it's up to Self and Self knows what he's looking for. To him, that reliability to do the little things right is more important right now. We're not going to change his mind no matter how much we wish we could, haha.

Remy is no Derrick Rose. He's not even a Josh Selby.

It's clearly not helping to play him 10-14 minutes if he can barely move. His limp was more than noticeable this weekend, even from the top corner of the fieldhouse, that it has been on TV. Sit him for a few weeks and get him healthy for the home stretch. Even if he's not 100%, 80-90 is still better than "60-70".

Don't buy that one nearly as much as the Remy situation. He looks like when he's grabbing 12-15 boards. Having 10 thumbs has nothing to do with foot surgery.
