Haters or not, the officiating during Chiefs games has been atrocious.
I recognize my audience on this site so I will say - I feel it has been 51% in their favor 49% in their opponents favor. My guess is most people "haters" or not, would say the percentages are different than mine - and favor the Chiefs more.
I know, I know, (pdub and others). You can come up with a way to prove it's been just 1% in their favor and 99% in their opponent's favor.

Prime example of what I said. You could generate this content after every single game, all of which has calls more egregious than this. There is just such a large "I hate the Chiefs winning all the time" base of fans that wanna-be "media" generate clickbait shit like this hoping to get eyes on their content.

I root for the Chiefs in every game they play. I root for the Bears in every game they play.
Of course I have a bias. That's human nature. Just as it's human nature to have a bias against teams you want to lose. But to say "the ONLY" reason why people feel the refs favor KC is because people want them to lose - is...... Like I said, maybe it's true, maybe it's not true.

I kept waiting for the article to point out the offensive pass interference that Schultz committed on McDuffy for the Texans' first TD. Still waiting...

Maybe that's because there's no doubt the various media outlets love having the energy and interest various conspiracies and controversies involving the Chiefs add to the story lines and drama as there are fewer and fewer teams that are relevant and games to watch and discuss, as we head into the playoffs. So why would they include anything that refutes and minimizes the Chiefs-related OUTRAGE!, du jour?



As someone who struggles not to think God gave me short shrift** when it comes to, e.g., inseam length and hair follicle robustness, I nonetheless feel officiating calls, while never perfect and sometimes even horrendous*, even out over time. Thankfully, that means I conserve the energy and bandwidth I might employ otherwise, because I rarely ruminate about a game's calls for more than a minute or two afterward, at most.


*Who amongst us thinks s/he could do better making split-second judgements, one after another after another, often while moving down the court/field/sideline dodging players, assistant coaches, chain gang personnel, et al, yourself, at the speed of today's BB and FB games? And, although it is necessary to reverse some decisions based on replays, what's even more incredible to me is, how infrequently they get it wrong, even under the microscope of the multiple angles usually available to re-examine their work.

There are more people cheering against KC than cheering for them. Same concept as all the "the refs are cheating so that the Jayhawks men's basketball team wins" whines. Basic marketing principles say to sell to the highest audience.

I like to think there isn't a conspiracy. I have a buddy who used to claim the NFL is/was fixed. I don't believe that. But.......I do believe the NFL prefers when their money makers do well. It's a business. Do the refs have a bearing on the games? Absolutely they do. Do they purposely call games in one team's favor? Maybe they do, maybe they don't. I have been told by reliable sources that they do. Meaning, they may adjust their leash (tighter or looser than normal) on defensive pass interference and/or defensive backs holding. Or offensive linemen holding. Or......

The Chiefs definitely get some favorable calls (yes, all teams do, but meh).

Mahomes is good at exploiting play to get penalties, or trying to make the most of a play when a penalty flag has already been thrown (why he has so many ‘overturned by penalty’ ints)…he’s just fucking good. And smart. I want! Also: he cries a lot.



All of this said, good luck for you all and everyone IRL I know that loves the Chiefs. Except for the culturally appropriating fan behavior, I’m rooting for success for you all myself!

I do 100% believe that there are refs with the same type of "I have the power" issues that some cops have who are determined to show players and coaches that they are the boss of what happens out there. That has been confirmed over and over and over in every sport.

Yesterday there were some make up calls for that egregious first TD by Houston. Pretty evenly called after the phantom hold to begin the second half though. Home teams get some love, but nothing like in college BB.

The second personal foul was after a nice first down run by Mahomes. Really not a big factor at all. But a forearm. The first one wasn't even hard to see unless you are lose in Lawrence Aikman.

The second was not.
The flop from Mahomes was a flop but nothing else as called. As it should be.

So one bad call.
