I think HD's appreciation for Dajuan Harris and Self's love of feeding the post will tip him in our direction. Zuby can still provide some meaningful depth and possibly be a force to be reckoned with by his junior year.
I have been smiling at the thought of Self showing Dickinson cuts of Aldrich, Withey and Embiid, and more or less saying, "any questions?"

I'd rather keep Zuby.
Not me. I think we're right back in the 1-line with Dickinson. To me, that's a worthwhile result for the ickiness. Unfortunately Zuby is eminently replaceable.
An absolute no brainer to anyone without brain worms.
You would've said the same thing about dajuan after one year too. Or pretty much any freshman. I mean technically anyone is replaceable at kansas. But there is value in keeping program guys around.
But we all know best case scenario is landing Dickinson and zuby being willing to stick around

Did you guys watch uconn play this year? They had a guy named adama sanogo. He was a similar prospect to zuby. About the same ranking coming out of high school (zuby slightly higher) and they are about the same size with similar tools
Sometimes keeping a program guy around is a really big deal. A lot bigger than you think at the time. Cause by the time they are a junior or senior, not only are the good as fuck, but they already have a couple years in your system with your coach. And know exactly how to play within that system and what is expected of them. And have chemistry with the other players that have been there

of course we want to build the program around dudes that have been here for multiple years.
i will not lose one drop of sleep if hd takes his services elsewhere.

I'm all for bringing in the best transfers we can find to fill holes on the roster. But it just feels weird if we end up running off talented young players in the process. Zuby feels like a guy with a very bright future ahead of him here at KU

I dont feel replacing program guys with guys in it for the money is necessarily good for a programs culture longterm

having to rely on the portal to fill out the roster is a turnoff. hopefully this episode is not the new normal.

Who'll really get fucked if Dickinson becomes a Jayhawk is Ernest...especially if Dickinson plays another two years.

you basketball experts, is there a date when all this portal stuff has to come together or does it go on all summer? it's impossible to determine who has a strong roster at this point in time other than wvu making some noise along with iowa state, i guess.

I remember those halcyon times, when kids like Brandon Rush signed as HS sophomores, and you could plan out the depth chart years in advance.

“Back in the day, you used to hear about a recruit in like the 9th grade, reach out, develop a relationship with the family, make an offer, and hope he commits by junior or senior year. Now, you schedule a Zoom call, and a couple days later, wonder when he’s gonna make up his mind.”

today the heavy lifting is done by some "grey area" third party organization called a "collective."

which reminds me. you better donate to your favorite collective. so we can continue to attract the top student-athletes to lawrence.

I'm not in love with all the transfer stuff, but I think this is an example of how it can help guys find their level. I think Yesufu is better than Drake, but not good enough for Kansas. Bottom-tier P5 is the right spot.
