Bought my ticket already (cheaper than current "market") so I'm not even going to look to see if ticket prices inevitably go down.
As a young kid I was a big tOSU fan. 2000s Gutter, I admit I kind of enjoy when they fail.
I have no feeling on the game tomorrow. I'm fine seeing either team - hopefully lose to Oregon.
IND/ND - I know many people going to the game. If the team they support loses - will suck to be them.
It's going to be cold. Better the game is tonight than last night. Last night a lot of snow and wind.
I suppose I am rooting for ND only because I prefer the ND/GA matchup from a program standpoint.
Pretty sure tickets are going to go down. The Championship games Sec Big10 basically all of them you could get tickets very cheap. So you could go to see that game however if your team wins then they play an even bigger game. Then if they win that one then an ever bigger game. I can see the economics of the fan choosing what to do. The demand is not going to be there to drive up the prices.
I am in complete agreement.
I think it's going to be a "dead" game compared to other Rose Bowls I have attended.
I have an tOSU co-worker/buddy. He claims there is less tOSU fan interest in tomorrow's game than there was in the Indiana game. I sort of get it.
I then have to wonder if tOSU wins - if the tOSU fans on a budget will want to pay a lot in last minute travel costs to travel to California to see them possibly lose. I would think they would rather wait and hope they win and then go see them in the Semi's against ASU/Clemson/or Texas - or wait and if they win that game, then travel to the National Championship game.
If I was a fan of a CFP team, I would feel too many games and too much potential unknown travel is a negative in the 12 team field.
For sure 100 percent agree. I think they have this 12 team playoff set for two years. Then we will see some adjustments. To me Oregon the #1 seed got the shaft. I have seen some talk of going to 16 teams and no byes and no conference championship dictating seeds.
What is crazy is go back just one year and eight of these teams have no shot. I think it's cool.

So.....
One game down. One game in which the Big 10 got shit on.
Sean McDonough and Greg McElroy didn't hold back with their comments towards the end of the game.
Rightfully ripped on Cignetti (Multiple College Coach of the Year awards).
Dude went brain dead punting from mid-field down 17 with 10 minutes left in the elimination game.
Fair catches on every kick return with no one near the return man?
Running the ball on 3rd and long/s?
Too much dumb shit but hey, who am I to judge? He is the COY who got paid between 4 and 8 million this season, while I'm a fat schlub who knows little about football, and was sitting on his chair in his living room questioning his decisions while getting paid nothing to watch the game.
They (McDonough and McElroy) ripped on the Big 10 for being an overrated conference. Easy to do when Indiana laid a giant turd but I don't know, probably top to bottom they are overrated but Oregon, PSU, and tOSU, are probably 3 of the 12 best teams in the country today.
I felt it was a joke that the final score ended up being 27-17. I felt ND could/should have won 41-10 if they really wanted to.

"This entire playoff is experimental. Things will change. Potential reseeding after round one. It may expand to 14 games. Change is inevitable. But let’s make one non negotiable rule — Indiana can never be invited again."

Is Jennings trying to throw (no pun intended) this game? Fine with me if he does but wtf?

3 interceptions and 2 pick sixes in 17 minutes of football.
If he's not trying to throw the game, he should be even more embarrassed and ashamed. Dude is JUNK!

SMU is definitely shitting themselves.
Their defense looks like a bunch of pylons too

Home games after a week off are pretty nice.

Ohio State hadn't played a game in 20+ days.
Notre Dame hadn't played a game in 20+ days.
Penn State hadn't played a game in 12+ days.
Texas hadn't played a game in 12+ days.
The games were garbage yesterday (and Friday night). Boy, was I off with my predictions. Sure, I had the winners but I thought the losers would at least show up.
Worthless Predictions.....
6 seed PSU -10.5 vs 3 seed BSU (PSU by 11)
5 seed Texas -13.5 vs 4 seed ASU (Texas by 14)
8 seed tOSU vs 1 seed Oregon +1.5 (Oregon by 4)
7 seed ND +1.5 vs 2 seed Georgia (ND by 8 - No Beck) Georgia by 8 with Beck.

Nobody wants to go to the blue field in January. The UT ASU game will be epic I think.

This is not responding to you in particular, just the context of your post.
I think all of the caterwauling about seeds 9-12 getting smoked, and therefore we need to reexamine the criteria for at-large bids, is hilariously opposite the point.
The lesson to be learned isn't that we didn't pick the right 9-12.
It's that the playoff has successfully moved the boundary to where there are supportable cases for picking teams that are obviously inferior to the rest of the field.
In other news, the playoff
worked, you dinguses.

completely agree
notice, despite ALL of round one’s games being pretty lopsided, indiana is really the only school in the crosshairs

Agreed. The first round of the playoffs should effectively be viewed as a play-in game. They took the bottom half of the 8 team quarterfinals and made them play a play-in game against the "first four out" to ensure the quarterfinals had teams that "earned" their way in. Seems like it worked just fine.
It's only a failure if you had unreasonable expectations.

Kurtz mentioned that the spread for the first playoff weekend was the same as it has been: about 17 points. Indiana's schedule was unfair from the start with eight home games. Baylor has had ample home games too the last two years. The new conferences need to tamp down on this. No more than six regular season home games without some sort of road correction math.

neutral site exceptions aside, i can’t see a good argument for not having home-away balance baked into everyone’s schedule

We're in this weird interstitial between the old, which had its problems, and the inevitable-new (which is power conference football breaking away in its entirety), which will have its problems.
So I'm just not going to get bent out of shape about the problems of this transitional phase; "this fax machine needs fewer buttons" turned out to be a pointless complaint, ya know?

Except when one of those buttons self-dials ESPN and claims it has a right to the play-offs because of the great win over Purdue. Office Space time.
