He was being an asshole and a hypocrite.
So no, I didn't forget that part.
You’re here, on a KU basketball message board you run (user_id=2), performatively whinging on about how little you care about KU basketball. But I’m the hypocrite.
Are people mad at you for being snooty and using the British version of whining?
Cuz I kinda get that.

Seriously, though, what thread do I check out to see Fish being an asshole and hypocrite?
Not generally what I'd expect.

Well, the hypocrite piece anyway.

Multiple implications of racism. Asshole.
On and on about how people could/should never work for free ( when they don't actually ) and then contribute 10 bucks to the site that you have 10,000 posts on. Hypocritical.
Then go on a campaign stating how silly someone's feelings about the thing they enjoy that is changing isn't valid. Hence the gifs to simulate a changed experience but with the content still there.

Drummond is an over the hill bench player at this point in his career. Can put up really good individual stat lines on a per minute basis, but evidence of him helping a team win actual games is rare these days.

I think the single biggest difference NIL has made for me as a fan is some glimmer of hope we might see the Dick types as sophomores.

I don't think there's any arguing the notion that NIL will (in each case versus a world without NIL) (1) bring more kids to school in the first place, and (2) keep kids in school longer.

If you have an issue with what athletes are or are not required to do, academically, your issue has nothing to do with NIL.
In any case, I have a very hard time taking seriously anyone who thinks there is really anything even remotely bad about awesome basketball players choosing to play college basketball.

how will the NIL bring more kids to school? i'm a bit puzzled by that. if Dick stays another year, we don't get extra scholarships (and have we ever not been able to find bodies for the ones we do have)? were some D3 schools unable to fill scholarships or something?
to your latter point, i think my main issue isn't with NIL as you say, its that we still call this "college" basketball instead of acknowledging the (ironically non-profit) universities profiting from professional athletes donning jerseys with their names and logos.

He's not totally wrong. The high end players are not there to be students. At all.
Although, that's not something that was created with NIL.

No. And it also
just does not matter. Was anyone else's KU experience ruined because I took a couple check-the-box classes outside my major pass/fail, and completely mailed it in? No. Nope.
Anyone who takes it
personally that the basketball players aren't there for Western Civ II is absolutely choosing to be offended by it.

I showed up for a final in a math class and panicked that I might be in the wrong place because there were so many people there I had never seen before. There were clearly regular students who didn't take their schooling very seriously. The notion that the current academic situation is unique to today or to athletics is simply choosing to be ignorant.

I don't know how it would bring more kids to school in the first place as they were already coming to school but it will definitely keep some players in school longer.
