Oh! so out for a nice hike the other day when we stop for a snack and a drink.
An older lady coming down the trail walks past us. She grumbles something in passing about the dog being off leash - a little 10 pound dachshund, indeed off leash, but otherwise just sitting by the owner eating a milk bone. We think the lady gets on a walkie talkie, but maybe just still grumbling.
A few seconds later, an older guy comes walking down and randomly confronts us. “You guys better remember to buy lottery tickets.”
Huh?
“Buy lotto tickets, cuz it must be your lucky day, I don’t got my ticket book.”
Oh wait so we coulda bought lotto tickets direct from you?
“NO! cuz I’d otherwise write you a ticket for having a dog off leash!”
The owner of the dog grabs the pup by the collar, who never did more than sit there munching a treat either way. She also gets confrontational right back, and starts snapping about how a leash is not required. He insists it is. She insists not, and starts name dropping some ranger friend of hers. The guy stutters, barks something back, and keeps walking. Upon passing, he turns over his shoulder and shouts, “remember that lottery ticket!”
Ok guy, what’s the powerball at these days anyway?
Having been bitten, threatened, and otherwise bothered plenty of times by off-leash dogs, I agree that dogs should be leashed. And the guy had a case especially if the dog got in his face or something. But this is actually a well-behaved dog that was otherwise not bothering a thing, and a 10 pound wiener dog at that.
And besides, I don’t think the guy was even any real authority, just some tourist on a power trip? Get a real hobby. Maybe start playing the lotto scratchers or something.
When we got back to the trailhead, and there’s a sign that says “dogs must be leashed or under physical control.” The owner considers that her vindication. She at least grabbed the dog’s collar to physically control, even though it was just sitting there either way.
But I guess the point of the story is, everyone sucks.

So my parents have been randomly blowing me up all day. They normally don’t, and if they do, it’s usually hoops related.
So I figured they were calling to talk about Eamoni Bates to Memphis, since they live right by him in southeast MI and have watched him play.
But apparently, it turns out they were calling to say dad’s gotta have heart surgery.
Allsome.

Thanks.
I’m sure he will be.
Trying to decide if I should try to go back and help with the recovery and stuff.
I hope dad hasn’t been waiting to punk me back for that time he had to clean up after baby ousdahl dumped in the bathtub.

Had a HS friend who died of cancer today. Her name was Tiffany Wentz.
While of course it sucks, there was something bizarre that happened in that regard.
When informing me of Tiffany's passing, someone sent me a message asking me if I knew that a friend named David Addis passed away today too. I was shocked. I communicated with him just a couple of days ago. Turns out it was a different David Addis. Went to check on my other friend named David Addis and his social media accounts have been "removed". Too strange of a coincidence.
I tried texting him and he hasn't responded.
I know for a fact it was a different David Addis who passed away. Only thing I can think of is that people were posting condolence things on his social media accounts.
Hopefully I will find out if/when he responds to my text.
