I agree with all of this, minus the circus font (which isn’t mentioned). That needs to be changed. It’s literally, silly.KUTradition wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2023 12:40 pm color me in the minority…i like the black and blue look
imo, the angry Jayhawk (1941) ought to make a resurgence across the AD

yes
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

CBS Sports' Jim Rome inquired about that culture change. Specifically, he asked Leipold what comes first, a complete buy-in from the players or the wins.
"I don't know if you can have one without the other," Leipold said. "I think what this program went through that really helped us was they found that we were going to hold them accountable with structure and accountability on and off the field in every facet of their life. And it was gonna be consistent. And I think that's what young men want. They want to be treated fairly, coached. They want to be given the opportunity, but we were going to hold them accountable from class attendance to tutoring, from weigh-ins with the nutritionist to themselves in the weight room. And then when they start seeing some improvement maybe personally or holistically as a team, some of that buy-in really skyrockets and I think that's what aligned for us right now."

Insightful and on point. Leipold is tough without being mean-spirited. Consistently holding these guys accountable tells them that you care about them.

KU can beat Texas. I rewatched the Alabama game and Ewers was frankly a Missouri State quality QB. He throws short almost every time. His first TD over 20yards--in his career--was in that game and it was basically just thrown high to a spot in the end zone and the receiver corrected and ran under it. He lacked touch on medium passes. He was throwing the Mangino bubble screens and lateral passes in the main. Bryant and co. Would probably have picked him a couple of times.
Play sound seven man fronts and stop the run. Pull out all the stops with Bean and the special offensive plays. Run against pass sets. Pass against run sets. May need to be pass first to tire out that line. Run out of the pocket. Reminds me of some of the old ballz setup games against UT. They are taking KU lightly too. They have great depth, but it is a QB game. Ewers is a very average dude hidden behind a five star line. Ewers is their weak link. Alabama is way down this year too and scored 24.

You are exactly right Kansas CAN beat texas. This is the best game this weekend. Two undefeated football powerhouses go head to head. LOL on Prime Time TV!!!! That was a dig on the Buffs that are about to take beat down number 2.
The key to the game is our OL. Can we handle their monster DL. JD needs to play smooth take what they give us. We need clock eating drives on offense.

Stopping their runs and screens is the key.hartjack8 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 28, 2023 8:27 am You are exactly right Kansas CAN beat texas. This is the best game this weekend. KU needs to keep its offense moving. There are some vulnerabilities in a Texas D-line so aggressive.
Re: Kansas Football 2023 Season
Did you watch the other Texas games??? Baylor stacked the box and shut down the run. Think they got like 30 rushes for like 60 yards. Wyoming played it straight and they gave up like 200 yards on about the same amount of rushes. Baylor gave up 300 yards passing and Wyoming less than half that. Texas HC is very good Offensive coach and we are not going to shut them down.
Re: Kansas Football 2023 Season
The other games were against disappointing teams. Ewers feasts on short passes. Tackling and hits are a premium and I think KU does that well. If UT runs a lot, it eats time too. Last year's game was an outlier in a lot of ways. The team was banged up after a long season. Daniels was not a run threat being off a bad injury. Probably should have sat. Bijon Robinson was incredible. But a different look this year. You can't stop everything, but limiting screens and forcing Ewers to look downfield is the key. If not KU, UT will be stopped because of Ewers eventually. But he is surrounded by enough talent to make it very hard.
Re: Kansas Football 2023 Season
I think we will keep in it at half but get broken down in the second and loose by 2-3 scores.
Re: Kansas Football 2023 Season
Listening to the Longhorn fans down here, we have already lost 46-6 in the blue chip all-important prescore.
Re: Kansas Football 2023 Season
Wyoming is actually doing really good they are 3-1 and took Texas into the 4th tied. But anyways the DL for Texas is NFL monster size. #95 6' 5", 317 lbs, #90 6' 1", 308 lbs, and the best
#93 6' 4", 362 lbs. If we can run on them we can run on anybody.
Texas is the most talented team in the Big12 and its not even close. Ewers is much improved from ly. If we are in this it's going to be because JD is showing out. JD for the Heisman

Re: Kansas Football 2023 Season
I agree; UT is full up with recruits. Ewers is being managed carefully. He is second in QBR because he is being asked to make simple throws. It has been enough so far, but he is below average under pressure.
Re: Kansas Football 2023 Season
Four scores.
I still think, knowing if Daniels can’t be back, we can beat UCF at home with Bean because I don’t think they’ll create nearly the same pressure.
