Wasn’t as obviously as “come on we all knew that was on purpose” as a full Grayson but he wasn’t innocent.

But I agree—absolutely shit call to escalate to F2.
That's basically what I'm thinking too. Unlike Grayson, there was room for interpretation - it wasn't clear indisputable.

To me, it just didn't seem to rise to either the obviously intentional nature or the extremely reckless contact that you would associate with an F2.

On the positive, I loved what I saw of Flory after the F2 - quick, decisive and intimidating post defense like that has been missing for multiple seasons.

They should be clearly “oh fuck yea that dude is outta here.”
That certainly wasn’t the occasion to call it.
I'd like to hear their explanation of why.

I was pissed when I saw the replay, because there was no reason for him to do it. But, he won't do it again. And we won. So all is well that ends well.
He just keeps making it impossible to cheer for him.
He made the 3 and acted like a moran.
I think he did a too short celebration and then lost his shoe.

Then kicks a guy.
I get it.

I could do without the excessive celebrations.

I'd like him a whole lot less if he wasn't such a good teammate on the court. He also seems likeable off the court.

But he'd be easy to dislike on the court if he wasn't a Jayhawk.

Agreed. HD is what I'd call a "mean mugger". He is the world's worst actor trying to perform on a very large stage. His antics throughout the night and on that play drew that Flagrant 2 even though his actions didn't warrant it.

I assume there will be a private discussion between Self and HD to discuss a need for HD to knock it the fuck off and just play.

I am so proud of how KU fought through that game to earn a great win. Every player made some winning plays that helped them win the game. That was really fun.

My kid is home from KU for the holiday so we got to watch it together. It was fun watching her interactbwith all her friends theough the game. Then I got to call my Mom to talk about the game, who joined me at the 2018 Elite Eight win over Duke here in Omaha that WE ALL KNOW HAPPENED.

I am very thankful for my KU family! That was an awesome night.

Been a good month for the local fans. Even Dr Pepper got in on the frenzy with the Chiefs losing that one game.

The initial hard foul deserved more than just a common foul.
I think it just looked worse than it did because HD ended up on his back while falling.

Also, HD got away with that hook and hold earlier in the game, which i am sure was pointed out at halftime, which is a flagrant a lot of times too.

HD wasn't trying to hurt him or kick him, but i think he was definitely trying to be a dick and brush his face with his foot.

I would like HD a lot more without the celebrations. I prefer the old school Larry Brown policy: after you score, find the man who got you the ball and point to him.

After watching the replay a few times I think if Hunter would have put his hand on the guys leg (which was over his face at the time) and pushed him off he probably wouldn't have gotten called for anything. When you land hard like that - as big as he is that is a really hard fall - and you think the guy did it on purpose it is only natural to retaliate. The fact that it was a kick to the face is what made it egregious. That kid had been getting under HD's skin all night and he let it get to him.

He need's to be ready for it because other players are now going to try to goad him into losing his cool. Even older players can learn some lessons. Hope he learned his.

I’m just glad he’s KU’s Mayo and not Duke’s.

(Imagine the NIL money had he transferred to Duke).

Re: Self’s comments about Poise, Toughness, and Defense.

HD being ejected could prove invaluable. The fact that our defense improved significantly with him out (as most here knew it would with right talent level on roster) won’t be lost on Self. I don’t think HD loses playing time, specifically, but it will be easier to not have him in (potentially) moving forward, given game situations.

Great win last night. Would have been a great loss, too, but the winning feels much better.

He was pressing a bit in the game, needed to get back to moving himself and the ball more.

Jon Scheyer against Kansas:

Game 1: Norm Robert coaching Kansas
Game 2: Kansas loses best player to absurd ejection with 10+ minutes left

Record: 0-2

I truly thought he stepped over the endline in making that pass to half court for their timeout. But that was not going to be called at that point in the game.

He had some good moments, but when he was out, it was much better. Of course, KJ was playing a bit out of body.

Be sure to catch the replay of DaJuan's floater in slow motion from above the basket at ~ 0:55 seconds, and watch HD fighting for position for a possible rebound...

I don't know that it was better because HD was out or because players were motivated by the absurd ejection.
