Nov. 11th, 2009 President Barack Obama walked in the rain among the graves of U.S. casualties from the Iraq and Afghan wars at Arlington National Cemetery and took an unscheduled detour into section 60, a thicket of simple white headstones, to mark Veterans Day...

The president, accompanied by first lady Michelle Obama, bent down briefly at the headstone of 19-year-old Specialist Ross McGinnis, who was awarded the United States’ highest military decoration for valor, the Medal of Honor.

McGinnis was killed when he threw himself onto a grenade during a patrol in Baghdad in 2006.

The first couple, bareheaded and ignoring the miserable weather, spoke and shook hands with visitors they found by the gravesides, one of whom Michelle Obama hugged...

His stop at a section of Arlington Cemetery in Virginia that is the burial ground for U.S. military personnel killed in Iraq and Afghanistan followed the somber Veterans Day ceremony at which Obama acknowledged the cost of fighting in both places.

“In this time of war, we gather here mindful that the generation serving today already deserves a place alongside previous generations for the courage they have shown and the sacrifices that they have made,” he said.

I am not defending Trump nor will it ever be easy for me to defend him in any manner but today he actually stood out in the rain (it appeared he was covered but it was raining) at Suresnes American Cemetery and gave a speech.

Of course the jagoff felt he had to tweet about it and give himself a blowjob in the process - but hey that's who he is and what he does so why would I expect anything else? Other than that he is the President of the United States and continuously/constantly embarrasses himself, the office he holds, and his country.

Perhaps they cut the ceremony short so that Trump could tolerate sitting and standing through it. I don't know about the WWI memorial, but for D-Day, there are speeches and playing of the national anthems for all the countries involved. It means a lot of standing up and sitting back down and an incredibly long time sitting through speeches in the cold--we were at the D-Day commemoration on a wet, cold day.

Trump looked like he could barely walk to the podium and it looks like they shortened his walk to it.

He's old and fat.

I sat through D-Day speeches, in French and in English and the playing of national anthems and laying of wreaths on a cold, rainy day in Normandy with WWII veterans in their 80s who managed to stand up and sit down for every one of the 7-8 anthems, including our friend who had titanium knees and several of the guys who were in early dementia.

They were rather older, although less fat than Trump. And not so uncomfortable at being among military people as Trump as he couldn't bully them or send them away from their families for Thanksgiving and Christmas for his showboating about the border.

I ask because lo and behold we had an armed guard who ended up dead because the cop/s mistook him for the shooter. Will be wonderful when law enforcement personnel storm classrooms and shoot the armed teachers in similar situations.
