Telling the Proud Boys to stand by is maybe the most awful thing he has said. And given what he's said in the past, that makes it one of the most awful things any President has ever said.
I think it says something I heard that, am probably one of the 5% that even know what the Proud Boys are, and just shook my head and moved on. I didn't expected that to be the part that people get outraged about. I'm more upset these knuckleheads are going to get a boon in both recruits and notoriety based on this stupid shout out.
I really wish we had a young buck like Mayor Pete on that stage. I like Biden well enough, but he's not the person to be on a debate stage with Trump. Clinton was much better up there.

I think the honest to god best thing about the debate last night was the lack of a true audience. I don't know if anyone remembers the 2016 train wreck, but people hooting and hollering in the audience racist sentiments. Here, it was relatively quiet, and I don't even think I heard them during the "debate."

Agreed about Clinton doing better than Biden.
I had to look up who the proud boys are. The page i found said they have several hundred members....then i see reports that "thousands" have showed up various places and it gave me an eye roll.
I read mixed reports on if they are truly a white supremacist organization. They have kicked members out for associating with white supremacists. They also have black members. So while it seems they are at the very least problematic for various reasons, are they truly all white supremacists similar to the KKK? Genuine question fwiw. Hoping someone here knows more than i do, becuase i have only read about 3 articles on them.

I didn't watch much of it, but the part I did watch, Biden said he'd rejoin the Paris agreement.
that alone is likely enough for a W.

What does winning mean? If it's scored like a boxing match, sure, I guess. There wasn't a debate to be scored, so there was no winner.
But Biden is sitting on a commanding lead. All he needed to do was let Trump continue to chase people away. That happened.
In other words, all Biden had to do to win was not lose. And he did not lose.

Like, if KU is up 12 with 1:14 to go, you don't say they lost a given possession because they didn't score. If they hold the ball for 26 seconds and don't turn it over into a layup, it was a winning possession.

Did trump really chase people away though? All the die hard Republicans i know seemed to be posting on social media about how trump was destroying biden.
Trump just needs the trumpers and dem haters to get out and vote....which they will.
Biden needs the minority section to get out and vote. I am a little worried that dems have once again picked a candidate that doesn't do much to inspire minority voters who typically don't vote to get out and vote....anecdotal evidence, but multiple black people that i am friends with on social media basically have said they aren't voting for either of them. Does that mean they won’t vote at all or that they never vote anyway? Maybe. Hard to say. But once the "racial jungle" stuff came out (yes even though it is from decades ago), and the history Kamala has with jailing black people, it seems a lot of the fringe minority vote was turned off. I doubt that means they will vote for trump, but it increases the liklihood they won't vote at all.
Clinton was sitting on a commanding lead at this time last year too. So i am expecting this to be closer than some seem to think. I would not be shocked if Trump wins again.
On a side note i dropped my vote by mail ballot off in a secure drop box 15min ago. Rather than waste my vote on a 3rd party person I went ahead and voted for Biden even though he wasn't in my top 5 choices from the democratic primary.
Fingers crossed. I don't particularly think Biden is prepared to do this, but like others have said if his ego doesn't get in the way i have faith he will pick smart people to help him lead the country back to something more united that our current situation.

While you're pointed the right direction, I think two things:
1 - Trump cannot afford to lose
anyone right now; and
2 - Between the taxes and the race-baiting and the attack on Biden's kid...Trump is bleeding suburban white women.
It's just not the case that Biden needs a lot of people to leave Trump. Trump won on the skinniest margins in 2016, and he's hemorrhaged support since then. All Biden needs is for Trump's base to be the hardcores only. That is being achieved.

And, fair or unfair, right or wrong, Hillary might be the most deeply unpopular politician of my lifetime.

I didn't play contrarian on your post that i responded to earlier. I agreed with you.
And tbh i think some of the posts here need a little contrarian to them.
How i am being walrus is strange. Guess not being left enough means i am super far right? Voting for Biden wasn't enough for some of you people apparently.
But regardless, sorry i have pissed you off and posted too much. I really should just not respond to most things. The discussion isn't for me most of the time anyway.
