we had flying monkeys? did you think wizard of Oz was a documentary sparko?
I guess the children in cages were rounded up a different way.
I think instead of a trump Biden debate we should have a sparko Mich debate and have everyone submit guesses as to what the hell you're actually talking about
Metaphors aren't your thing. That's okay. But you sound more like a guy who has kids on his lawn every day.

i don't know what the polls are saying. i don't care what the polls are saying.
i assume if you are bloviating about them. they are not in favor. there is time to turn it around.
Maybe you could be troubled to, you know, read and digest the words that are posted here.

As someone who tends to look for ulterior motives in how the media covers things, you might go back and read what I quoted more closely.
Maybe I should just ask - what ulterior motive/s do you perceive here?
I think it's important to understand that there are at least TWO different constituencies within mainstream media that are served by the "race" being portrayed as closer than it likely is: (1) the constituency that desperately WANTS Biden to win (and does not want a single Biden voter to sit out on the assumption that the race is not close), and (2) the constituency that desperately wants as many eyeballs as possible, for as long as possible.
There is some, but not perfect, overlap between these groups.
But again, a
Fox poll showing the race as essentially tied means, in reality, Trump is in pretty deep shit. That can change. But I do not think the characterization of the actual state of the race at the moment is very accurate.
Good analysis.
I agree that much of it is eyeballs. The media so desperately wants a dramatic neck-and-neck race to the finish to keep the folks tuned in.
I also agree that the constituency that wants Biden to win doesn’t want any potential Biden voters to sit out.
I just think it’s kind of a rotten strategy, tho.
Rather than continuing the course of little more than, “BuT TrUmP!!!,” I think it would be more effective to implement a strategy of actually pressuring Biden to actually win over more potential Biden voters.
I think the concern about Biden voters staying home is valid. I just think they may be at least as likely to stay home cuz of disillusionment with Biden, than cuz of simply assuming the race isn’t that close.

What does this even mean? Why should the media have such a strategy?
It seems like you are inching toward suggesting that the media has been unduly
easy on Biden, which is (to me, relatively-speaking) a ridiculous thing to say.

This is a ridiculous thing to say. The media has, cynically, held the two candidates to
wildly different standards, and has with rare exception covered the odds rather than the stakes.

For the "media", the presidential election is all about the horse race, 24/7, or it isn't "news".

old uncles handlers won't let him talk to the media. old uncles handlers filter his questions so as to only allow favorables. if they don't like the question, you don't get to ask.
old uncle hasn't been in the fire for 4+ years. he has been mollycoddled.

that Caldwell-pope girl that runs the press briefings won’t field any question that don’t start with “I love uncle joe, can you explain how you love him.”

You are probably fortunate that there isn't a quick way to generate a list (or, perhaps, a collage) of those whose names you choose to misspell.

Meanwhile, for those with short memories:
Feb 24, 2020 — Trump White House goes 300+ days without a press briefing...

"Some of Donald Trump's allies are assembling proposals to curtail the Justice Department's independence and turn the nation's top law enforcement body into an attack dog for conservative causes, nine people involved in the effort told Reuters.
If successful, the overhaul could represent one of the most consequential actions of a second Trump presidency given the Justice Department's role in protecting democratic institutions and upholding the rule of law."
Anyone who thinks this election is just about "my opinion or yours" isn't paying attention. It is not TDS in saying that Trump wants to fundamentally dismantle our system for his own benefit and turn us more into a system run like Russia and North Korea.

imo, it makes a vote for a 3rd party candidate even more consequential (but not in the way most of those casting the votes would want)
