And easy access to guns.

I heard yesterday that at least 7 countries, (New Zealand, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, France, Venezuela, and Uruguay), have issued travel advisories for their citizens about visiting the United States, because of the number of shootings here.

Aren't we proud?!

This isn’t exactly an easy read, but this shooter was basically lab-grown in the far right media and social media ecosphere.

So are these shooters mentally ill to begin with or are they shaped into that state of mind by the “far right media and social media ecosphere”? Discuss

I tend to think about it from a big numbers perspective.

You inject this much poison into the bloodstream of a nation of 330 million, and the number of severe adverse reactions is going to be significant (even if, expressed as a percentage, it seems small).

When those who suffer these severe adverse reactions have easy access to weapons like assault rifles, catastrophic damage results.

That’s the argument for banning assault rifles, in a nutshell. The small marginal utility benefit they have (over other firearms) when used for lawful purposes (self-defense, hunting, recreation, etc) does not justify the massive marginal utility benefit they have when used for unlawful purposes.

Well, we've already established that the GOP doesnt give a shit about whether children are killed so long as the right to buy big guns that make your balls tingle when you shoot them is protected so what's a few sexually assaulted children at the hands of pedophile priests when you're trying to save the nation's crumbling morality and mental health that is clearly to blame on people going to church less?

I’m not trying to be a smart ass here, but I think you missed my point regarding attending church service people risk getting shot.

Makes me wonder how many of those with measurable reactions managed to put off their one act play for another day, or week, or year.

Sadly, you can replace "church" with just about any other location in any community and get a hit on that search.

But most shootings aren't politically motivated. It goes to what you keep saying with every shooting about needing to first find out all the demographic and political information about shooters before passing judgement (super non-verbatim, hopefully I'm not misrepresenting you).

Republicans jumped on the trans shooter saying them being trans was the issue. Democrats are pouncing on this one.

There are separate issues here. The one commonality is the guns. We have a major issue with bigotry. We have a major issue with mental health. A lot of countries have both these and don't have nearly as many mass shootings.

Anything - everything - but the guns.

If guns aren’t the problem, and people are, then why would you want those people to have guns?
